I hope they get slammed - HARD! teddyb July 10 2007, 06:21:21 UTC
It is a sad thing that in many markets, the biggest car dealer networks get that way by being the sleaziest and most deceptive.

When I bought my last car, I had already decided I wanted a Neon, so I dropped by the Dodge - Chrysler dealer nearest where I work to see what stock they had on hand.

As I wandered around the showroom, I couldn't believe the classic scams the various salesmen were pulling on people.

I wandered out onto the lot, and discovered a bunch of Neons that had just been unloaded of an auto carrier. I could see that the official price sticker was being removed from each one, and being replaced by a phony, but official looking, sticker that added $500 to the price, which could then be bargained away by the salesmen to make purchasers think they got a good deal. In very, very tiny print, partially obscured by the gasket where the window rolls into the door, there was a note that "This is not the factory applied price sticker".

In the end, I went to a dealer near my home, where I got a no-haggle price at a fair margin above what I knew was the dealer cost.

The crooked dealership is one of the largest in Ontario, and always has the biggest newspaper ads.

I hope the dealer you posted about there in Georgia gets really slammed hard for this sleazy trick.
