i like food...a lot
today we went to the german grocery store right off base. first time since we've been back. we got these delicious items:
1. butter pretzels. pretzels are big in germany. they make them fresh and you can get them anywhere. a butter pretzel is just what it sounds like: a pretzel with butter either injected into it or spread onto it if it is cut in half. the handelshof (german grocery store we frequent) cuts them in half and spreads an obscene amount of butter onto them. more butter=more better.
2. a loaf of fresh bread. the bread over here is fucking awesome. nothing more needs to be said.
3. a rack of beer for william. they have two full aisles of local beers that you can buy by the rack. william is in heaven. my dad and donna were as well when they made their respective visits. that could be you, lynda.
4. beef sticks. these are sold in the butcher's shop that's located in the handelshof. they are delicious. imagine a slim jim. now imagine a slim jim that chuck norris has sneezed upon. yeah. it's that good.
5. pastries. there's a bakery right next to the butcher's shop. we go by there all the time to get various delicious pastries and butter pretzels. they also sell sandwiches, which we eat a lot of. today we bought some puff pastry concoctions with fresh cherries. so good.
i just wanted to talk about food. i have nothing further to contribute.
