SMSU, one of the two places I've felt comfortable in the local region for the last three years, remains open during the government shutdown because the governor said so. According to the interim president, it is still going to hurt, and still going to end in pain and tears.

I haven't been reading as much as I was last time, what with going and wrestling through a challenging book that I've been writing and about ready to make a change in my lifestyle. I hope it won't be that sharp, not as sharp as the change in 2009, but it'll impact the amount of time I have to spare.

I didn't know Slimer was a puppet. I knew the Ghostbusters movies had plenty of puppetry in them, but wow, these recordings of puppet practice are really surreal. The variety of expressions on the giant Slimer head, the dragging the thing around when they take it off, the woman sticking her head out of the green suit!

I've gotten as wrapped into the Welcome to Bordertown festivities as a lot of the urban fantasy founders extol the virtues of the book everywhere I look. I never read the originals, but I did follow the Endicott Studio and blog in its latter days and love the idea of Bordertown, even if the concept is a little too blunt with its magical majesty.
