Chicago here I come.

So I'm basically I'm all set to go to Chicago. I have a flight booked and a place to live (after surviving Craigslist hell). There were several places I wanted to live- especially the one I accepted, but then called and rejected today. The catch was it was going to be $956 for the 5 weeks, which isn't so bad, considering it seemed really nice, but was still damn expensive. I am trying to save a little bit from this whole Citizenship and Immigration Services experience.
I ended up taking a room at this place:

It seems uber-bohemian, which I think I can deal with for 5 weeks. I talked to the lady that was renting the rooms and she said that the neighborhood was alright, on the verge of gentrification, and I should be fine after having lived in DC. I hope she's right. The good thing is it's two blocks from the El and it's convenient to my job (about a half hour commute).
I am a little nervous about all of it. But I attribute that to the fact that I'm going to a new place where I have no idea where the hell anything is. And I really don't know what I'm getting into-
Chile all over again. Chile was a great experience, hopefully this will be as well.

I start work at CIS on Monday. Yay! After two months of limbo it's still hard to believe that yes, I will be working for the government and yes, it will be in Chicago.

My classes start online on Sept. 10th. That's one thing I'm really excited about.

I'm coming back to CT Sept. 30th. After that I will start Project: I want to move to Boston before July 2008.

Wish me luck!
