First, to the guy who commented to his friend this morning that, "SOME people are apparently too good to look at the construction crew and say good morning," how about if we give some people a break at 7:20 on a Monday morning, huh? Also, I would like to just put something out there for everyone to know. When I walk, I must focus every bit of my concentration on the ground and staying upright. If a grain of sand is in my path and I do not look directly at it, I will trip over it. That's just my natural grace. Also also, fuck off, Construction Guy! I don't even know you. I have a hard enough time being nice to the people I'm required by law to like.
Second, I agree that this has been an unprecedented season for our hometown team. Personally, I have not watched a single minute of baseball since September, but that is for their own good. I left town and they were in fourth place or some such thing. I'm gone 17 days and they win the wildcard spot. I'm obviously a jinx. My not watching somehow overcame the whole Sports Illustrated cover thing, for which I am very thankful to the baseball gods. It's nice to know that my sacrifices are appreciated by someone. Anyway, my point here is actually an entreaty to the local media. For the love of all that is good in this world (i.e., cheese, the Clash, Tony Gwynn), please stop using the term "Rocktober." I'm begging you. It was amusing the first. . .nope, it was actually never funny.
Finally, Halloween is fast approaching. Claire likes fairies, so she's going to be a fairy. Claire is afraid of the big bad wolf, so Ella is going as the big bad wolf. A scary one, as opposed to the cuddly big bad wolves you see so often. It's been suggested that I need to have some sort of costume in the spirit of the season. Ella would like for Derek and me to be the Three Little Pigs, which seems complicated for a number of reasons. Maybe I'll just be a brick house. No costume necessary!
