Fern Lake Backpacking Trip on 7/23 & 7/24
This trip was a loop beginning at Bear Lake in RMNP and following the Fern Lake trail. Most of this hike was fairly easy, moderate or flat the first day and mostly downhill the second day. We challenged ourselves a bit by throwing in some off trail hiking. Here we climbed into a valley between Flattop mountain and Notchtop mountain. In this first pic you can see lake Odessa below.
After hiking for awhile we came across this snowfield and I totally dejavued! I had been here before with YN playing on this exact snowfield. We couldn't pass up some butt-sledding and glissading!
Ahh, we made it to Fern Lake! It was another half mile to camp from here.
Most of the pics we took from camp we took in video format so I don't know how to capture still images yet of those, but here is one making dinner.
And here is another one of me just relaxing near the tent.
I wish I had written an entry just after the trip so I could share more, it was so much fun though!
