James and I went backpacking on Saturday and Sunday!
I wasn't ready for this pic, I was messing with my bandana.. anyways that's the trailhead... it was a 4.5 mile hike to camp, it felt longer though.
A self portrait while hiking along
James reading the sign at our campsite
Hanging out at the beach at camp (Mt. Meeker in the background)
The view of Sandbeach Lake from our tent (and James checking out the beach)
And our tent from the lake
The water in the lake was so clear you could see almost to the bottom in most places!
Especially lots of fish!
Actually we saw lots of wildlife.. chipmunks, lots of rabbits, I'm not sure what that bird is (I thought it was a Sage-Grouse but it looks more like a pheasant maybe?), a bat (don't worry it was dead when we found it), and lots of squirrels, birds and butterflies, oh, and a bear! (No pic though 'cause luckily we saw it from our vehicle when we were leaving!).
Speaking of bears we hung our food way up in a tree in a bear-safe container.
We had such a yummy dinner! It was "Backpacker's Pantry" food packets (savory italian pasta, sicilian veggies, and pesto fry bread, and tirimisu for dessert)
mmm, real mountain spring water! (filtered of course)
