Installment 2.5 in the Romantic Fics Challenge! ^^
This one is the fluffier version of the two...This one's also shorter too....XD Both of them are partially inspired by G.NA's "Black & White"!

Black & White (Version 2 - Fluff version)

“Chinen!”

Morimoto Ryutaro groaned as he dug his hand into his pockets for the second time in the space of a few minutes. He turned them inside out, scattering their contents on the bed in front of him. I can’t believe this! he thought. His actions had just confirmed his suspicions. Chinen had stolen his phone…again.

“Chinen Yuri!” he yelled. “Get in here right now!”

Ryutaro’s bedroom door creaked slowly open, and a small, lithe form slipped into the room, softly closing the door behind him.

“Is there something wrong, Ryu-chan? Or, did you miss me already?” asked Chinen Yuri in a sing-song voice. He stood there, feigning shyness and with his head dipped and his hands behind his back while giving Ryutaro the cutest, most innocent smile he could muster.

Unfortunately for the little acrobat, Ryutaro was already long since immune to his boyfriend’s cute antics. The older Morimoto brother crossed his arms in front of his chest, like a teacher about to lecture an ill-behaved student. “Oh, knock it off, Chii,” Ryutaro said sternly. “You know that I just saw you minutes ago…when you stole my phone!”

“Phone?” inquired Chinen, pretending not to understand. “What phone?”

Ryutaro sighed, and started tapping his foot impatiently. “You know what I mean, Chii! I mean my phone! My new sliding phone! I know you like to play with it, but give it back!”

Chinen pouted cutely, looking to all the world like a petulant five year-old. “But, Ryu-chan!” he whined, dragging out the last syllable far beyond its usual length. “It’s so much fun! It clicks when it slides!”

Ryutaro crossed the room, and placed both of his hands on Chinen’s shoulders. He sighed again. Sometimes having the most adorable boyfriend in the world made things extremely difficult. “Chii, I know it’s fun, but it’s also my phone. It’s important to me. I know we’re dating, but it doesn’t mean that you can randomly run off with my phone, okay? What if I need to make an emergency call?”

Chinen grinned widely, his whole face lighting up with happiness. “Then, you can come find me, and we can spend even more time together!”

Ryutaro stared at Chinen in disbelief at first. But after a while, he couldn’t hold back his laughter anymore. After his chuckling subsided, Ryutaro swept Chinen up in a warm hug, bringing the smaller-sized boy to his chest. “Sometimes, you really are too much, Chinen Yuri,” he said, giving his boyfriend a tender squeeze. “But that’s why I love you so much.”

Chinen giggled, and murmured something into Ryutaro’s chest, the vibrations ruffling against his sweater. But whatever Chinen had said was too soft for Ryutaro to make out clearly.

“I love you too, Ryu-chan.”

At least, that’s what Ryutaro hoped Chinen had said.

* * *

“Damn!” swore Ryutaro, cursing himself for his stupidity. “Why do I keep making the same mistakes?”

He and the other Hey! Say! JUMP members were in the practice room, trying to perfect the dance to their newest single, “「Arigatou」~Sekai no Doko ni Itemo~”. So far, the others were getting the motions precisely and keeping completely in sync with each other - only Ryutaro was struggling to keep up. For some reason, today had felt like an “off day” for him, and he found himself ducking when the others were still standing or turning in the wrong direction, earning him strange looks from the other members. Usually dancing came easily to the youngest JUMP member, but today, things just weren’t clicking.

As Ryutaro started berating himself again for his mistakes - this time, he had started with the wrong leg, he saw Chinen go through the movements of the dance effortlessly from the corner of his eye, each movement full of purpose and grace. Damn that little acrobat, he thought, shaking his head. He makes everything look so cool. Even though Chinen could show him up in dance, for some reason, Ryutaro couldn’t find it in him to resent him for it.

The music ended abruptly as someone paused the video that they were learning the choreography from. As soon as the last note petered out, Chinen turned from his place at the front of the formation and rushed to Ryutaro’s side.

“Ryu-chan, are you alright?” asked Chinen, worry evident on his face.

Ryutaro nodded sullenly. “Yeah, I’m okay. I just wish that I wasn’t so stupid!” He looked up at Chinen, his lips curled in a wry smile. “Don’t you wish that your boyfriend wasn’t such a stupid-head, Chii?”

Chinen frowned slightly. “But you’re not a stupid-head, Ryu-chan. You’re just having a bad day. Come on, I’ll show you the choreography again.” He grabbed Ryutaro’s hand and helped him up from the floor, dragging him to the center of the dance floor.

“Here,” Chinen said with a bright smile, “follow me.”

Step by step, Chinen went through each movement in the choreography, sprinkling his words of instruction every so often with words of praise whenever Ryutaro did something admirably. Through all of this, Ryutaro kept his eyes focused completely on Chinen; all of the other JUMP members had faded away into the background like insignificant passerby in the streets of Tokyo. Each minute seemed to last much longer than it should have, as Ryutaro felt himself immersed in his own world with Chinen as his only company.

All too soon, the song ended, and Ryutaro found himself bent forward in the ending pose with Chinen crouched in front of him, beaming proudly at his newly enlightened disciple. “That was awesome, Ryu-chan!”exclaimed Chinen. “If you keep up the good work, you’ll be the best dancer in Johnny’s in no time!”

“Aw, come on,” said Ryutaro, blushing at Chinen’s praise. “There’s no way that would happen!” He bent in to whisper in Chinen’s ear. “Especially with that Yamada Ryosuke punk around!”

From the far corner of the practice room came an indignant “I heard that!”. Both Ryutaro and Chinen fell over onto the dance room floor, laughing their heads off, both in each other’s arms. As their laughter faded away, Ryutaro found himself staring into Chinen’s shining eyes. Seized by a sudden impulse, Ryutaro leaned forward and pressed his lips gently to Chinen’s forehead.

“Thank you, Chii, for helping me,” he whispered.

Chinen looked back up at him, smiling away happily as his face flushed a light pink. “Of course! I’m glad that I was able to help you, Ryu-chan.”

Unexpectedly, they were interrupted by someone clearing their throat loudly. Both Ryutaro and Chinen’s heads jerked upwards and were greeted by a stern-looking Yabumama.

“Guys,” Kota said, clearly trying to keep the displeasure out of his voice, “if you’re going to do lovey-dovey couple stuff, could you please take it somewhere else, instead of the middle of the dance room?”

Ryutaro and Chinen traded guilty looks, then as one, they exclaimed, “Yes, Yabumama!”, and fled the room.

“Chii?” Ryutaro asked one day, not looking up from the textbook he was studying.

“Yes?” replied Chinen, snuggling up closer to his boyfriend as they lay next to each on Ryutaro’s bed.

“Why are we dating?” Ryutaro was careful to resist turning his head to see Chinen’s reaction to his sudden question.

There was a pause as Chinen considered how he should answer the question, then he said, careful to keep his voice even, “What do you mean by that, Ryu-chan?” Despite his best efforts, Chinen’s voice sounded unusually bright, even for him.

Ryutaro sighed, and put his textbook down. “I mean, we’re so different from each other, Chii. You’re so outgoing and I’m a little shy. You make dancing seem so effortless and I make it a mess. I’m sure that there are people a hundred times better than I am that you could be dating right now, someone who’s more compatible with you.

“It’s like we’re Black & White. Why are we even together?”

Chinen placed both hands on either side of Ryutaro’s head and turned it gently so that the youngest member of JUMP was facing him. “We’re together because we love each other. Even in the face of all of our differences and despite the fact that there are probably people out there who would be better suited for the both of us, we need each other to balance each other out. It may not seem so at first, but we fit well together.” He removed his hands from Ryutaro’s face and instead wrapped his thin arms around his lover. “After all, what’s Black without White? One couldn’t exist without the other. Don’t you agree, Ryu-chan?”

Ryutaro returned Chinen’s hug, bringing the little acrobat’s body closer to his own.

“Of course I do. After all, I’m nothing without you.”
