I'm work at a gym and it is true, a lot of people have made it their resolution to lose weight lol but the key to actually succeeding is that it is a life change, not a added activity of walking/running sometimes. That might make it sound difficult but I believe fitness and nutrition is interesting when you get into it and a healthier lifestyle will make you feel so much more confident. It's free and you can track your kcals in and out and just keep an eye on everything you're doing.
Good luck with the 5k, I used the same programme and I'll be running my second half marathon in april, so it defo works!!
