Katrina and Christmas

Aug 27, 2006 14:21

My New Orleans peeps are linking to their blog posts from one year ago today, the day we began to realize Katrina was aiming for NOLA and we should consider evacuating. one year ago tomorrow was when we really began to worry. I didn't post on the 29th, the day the storm hit.

Maybe I get to have a hurricane this year, too!

Heading to Tampa tomorrow. I'm not sure what kind of access I'll have to email and LJ and everything. Limited, I'm sure. I'll probably make some voice posts.

In the meantime, here's a video I just uploaded to YouTube. It's from Christmas of 1980. My parents took me to Ohio, where my dad's family lived (and many of those people still do live there). I uploaded this for my family, and it will probably be kind of boring to anyone not related to me, but if you're interested, I'm the baby on the floor who keeps getting zoomed in on. My dad is the one in the yellow hoodie, and my mom holds me on her lap in the last two minutes.
