K, so I decided tonight after watching one of my favorite movies, that for lack of anything else to do, I'd talk about some of my favorite movies (wow, was that sentence a bit redundant, or what? heh) :D
Good Will Hunting. I just finished watching this movie actually, again, and I think Matt Damon's an awesome actor (though The Talented Mr. Ripley sucked horribly) I also love Robin Williams (who is another fave movie actor of mine, along with Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp.) But really, I think Robin Williams is overlooked a lot as being a great actor, because so far I've been pretty impressed with every role I've seen him in (well, minus One Hour Photo... that was a bit strange...) But Good Will hunting is still one of my faves, and to think it was written by Matt Damon and Ben freakin' gigli Affleck just boggles my mind...
The Princess Bride. I know I know, another outdated, over done fairly tale love story. But the thing about Princess bride is that it was refreshing, and actually sort of put a new spin on the genre. It had a lot of funny moments, and c'mon ya gotta love Fezzik and Inigo. "Let me 'splain... no, there is too much. Let me sum up." lol. I always thought Inigo was a really interesting character. Along with Miracle Max, of course :P
It's A Wonderful Life. It's just one of those heartwarming classics. It's my mom's favorite movie, so we have to watch it together every Christmas. (Awww...)
The Shawshank Redemption. This is just an excellent movie, and Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are two more great actors. Plus this movie, surprisingly, was based on a book written by Stephen King. I had no clue that he wrote it until recently, because it's so different from the strange, creepy, sci-fi esque horror he usually writes. And, oddly enough, he wrote Stand By Me too, which is also a very good movie. I'm usually not a big fan of Stephen King, because Pet Semetary, for example, just went to a whole new level of bizarre for me. But kudos to King for writing Shawshank. Great stuff.
Pirates of the Caribbean. I know, a fluffy, swashbuckling Disney movie. But I admit it, I do have a soft spot for Disney movies (Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo...) A lot of people didn't care much for Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow, but I don't know, I personally loved his interpretation of the character. Regardless, it's just a lighthearted movie that kept me laughing and entertained the entire time, and hey, I'm pretty easy to please, so that was enough for me :D
Forrest Gump. One of those movies that actually lived up to its hype, IMO.
The Usual Suspects. Yes, though I hated American Beauty, I still think Kevin Spacey is a pretty friggin good actor. I won't give it away for anyone who hasn't seen it, but I definitely did not see that twist coming at the end. Was I alone in that, or was anyone else completely blindsided?...
Lord of the Rings (all three). Great moviemaking. I read the book first, decided I had to see the movies asap, and was actually very pleasantly surprised. Peter Jackson did Tolkien justice. Though I must say, in both the book and the movie, I personally wanted to throw Frodo in Mount Doom at the end. Was I the only one who got incredibly sick of his incessant whining? Nothing against Frodo, because he was brave and all, volunteering to take the ring to Mt. Doom. But for pete's sake, stop getting sick and falling over, stop going into those stupid googley-eyed trances, and stop whining! And to think poor Sam ended up having to carry his sorry hobbit ass... ::grumbles:: LOL
A League of Their Own. Yeah, this could probably be classified as one of those nostalgic, schmoopy girly movies, but I still thought it was good! It might be schmoopy and nostalgic, but it's got heart, and I like that.
Some other movies I like... Boondock Saints, Batman Begins, Almost Famous, Saving Private Ryan, Cool Hand Luke, Harry Potter, ::coughs::Austin Powers... Alright, c'mon, we all like some movies with a little low brow humor! So long as it's entertaining, of course. Plus, I tend to love movies that are spoofs, so long as they "spoof" well... that's a funny word, isn't it? "Spoof" :P
There's plenty of other movies I like too, but those are just some of the favorites I can think of off the top of my head.
Anyway, here ends my pointless post :P
And I can't think of anything else to write right now (my brain seems to have gone numb, hmm...) but don't worry, if I think of anything better I'll post that too ;)
