The times, they are a-changin'

Today went by so fast. I wish I could sleep in.. at least there would be an excuse for the day going slow. Beau took his vacation at work, just so we would have some money. And I had a few MK sales, so now at least our bills are going to get paid and we got some decent groceries. He's supposed to be lining up some work with his mom's boyfriend (Jimmy). This is the guy we are buying our trailer from and the guy that owns the road and pretty much every trailer down here. Beau may have some work with him fixing a tractor and cutting all the grass on his properties and other odds and ends. We think that would work out great because of Beau's schedule. It's hard to start a new full time job while you're also in school full time. Bosses don't generally take kindly to people taking 2 full days a week off. But Jimmy would. Hopefully that works out.

Wonderful Sheila (wolsh45 ) suggested Target. I am not opposed to the idea if Beau can't get something steady. I doubt he will be fond of the idea of me going to work, especially nights and weekends in retail, but if it needs to be done, it will. My husband needs to finish this semester and I've got experience in retail and I don't mind the work. I on't quit my job at Michaels because the management didn't manage. People with good work ethic were basically left taking care of everything while all the slackers, include the store manager, clowned around and smoked all day.

But I'd even put up with that if I needed to. Not that it'll be fun to be on my feet for hours at time while I'm going on 6 months pregnant. But, I'd do it.

Beau and I also discussed whether it would be better for him to start his USMC career as a reservist. Here's the deal. He was ready to ship out back in January. He was told he couldn't enlist in the military right now because he only held a GED. (He's not a dumby, he had to quit school to go to work when he was 15). In order for him to enlist, he'd need 15 college credits. He's determined, so he applied that day to start the Spring semester at LSUE. He got in, scheduled his classes, which his adviser didn't want him taking 15 credits, but he insisted, thankfully he got a Pell grant that covered just about everything and he started school a few short weeks later. He is doing great by the way!

So he was all set to ship off to boot camp after the baby would be born (her due date is August 1). Right? Wrong. He then learned that there is a cap on how many dependents an enlisted Marine can have at the lower ranks because of the pay grade. They won't let you enlist with over 2 dependents, so this means he was going to have to leave before the baby was born. Which sucked. Big time! However, it meant better things in the long run, so we were prepared to do it. So as soon as it was official that he had 15 credits, they were going to have him all signed up and ship out on the soonest date available.

But now, Beau's hearing that the Marines are pretty backed up and he has a feeling that he wouldn't get a ship date before the baby is born. This doesn't mean he can't join, it just means he can't join as active military. He can go reserve and either just work full time until he is allowed to go active with 3 dependents (which would be great that he would be here for her birth and first few months of life) or go reserve and volunteer to go to Iraq so we would get all the benefits of him being active. But he would be in Iraq.

So it is just a lot to try and decide on... and then, in the end, we may not even have a choice. If he can't enlist and leave before she's born, then it's automatic that he'll be reserve because they don't allow it.

But, on the bright side! We chose a name for our sweet daughter!

Maliah Mae.

It's got a nice ring to it. Beau suggested it. Well, actually he suggested Mahlia, but I tweaked the spelling a bit.

I think he wants me to play video games with him now, so I'm going to shut this down. Night all!
