What can I say? I've been busy, and it's not about to stop! Camp last week was amazing, for lack of a better word! Sitting up on the platform, I could definitely feel the electricity in the room as the power of God rested on the place. Lots of decisions were made, and I think 11 kids got saved, several of them were church kids who had "prayed the prayer" when they were younger, but now were under Holy Ghost conviction of their sinful state, and their need of a Saviour! Praise the Lord!
I did something I didn't think I'd do! I went back to using ear monitors. It was just so much easier, because I had a dedicated channel for the piano, and then one for everything else with my vocal coming through a little louder than anyone else's. Anyhow, it took a little bit to get used to, but once I was, I wasn't taking those things off. It left more room for problems though, as soon as I'd have to sing, or when the service was getting heated up, my battery would die. I learned a lesson though! Change the battery before every service, and keep a fresh one up there just in case! Fortunately, James, who was playing my Martin, figured out that when I randomly handed him my body pack, it meant he needed to change a battery for me. I learned to play the piano with one hand while passing off the body pack with the other. True tallent, ya know?
Our Sunday night service after camp was incredible as well. My facebook subscribers will know what I'm talking about, but God answered a prayer that night that I've been praying for a long time. In fact, God answered many prayers for me this week.
So now on to recent happenings...I've been busy all week, and one of the things that happened was that my cell phone finally got the best of me. Verizon said they'd exchange it for something else, so they recommended the Samsung I760, which I loved very much! I got it home, and installed the software that makes phones talk, and it didn't work correctly. After emailing the company, they sent me a beta which would work, but a very important function did not, so i was kinda stuck for a few days. I emailed them again, and didn't hear anything, so I went back to the verizon store to plead my case, and they gave me an HTC XV6800. The long and short is, the software works fine, but the phone's layout is such that it's next to impossible for me to use. Meanwhile, I got an email from Code Factory, who sent me a patch to make the i760 work all the way. I'm gonna go back to Verizon today and see if I can get my other phone back. It was definitely very useable. This one is definitely not! Texting's a pain, but dialing the phone's even worse! It's one of those touch screen phones with a slide out keyboard, and the number buttons are on the slide. Ug! Terrible concept! So there's my story!
Edit: I went to the Verizon store again today, and asked to be switched back to the Samsung I760. I brought the laptop with me, just in case there was going to be a problem with the activation, and installed the speech software I needed before the phone got activated! I also installed the patch they sent me, and lo and behold, it works like a charm! I love this phone! If you're after a Verizon phone that runs Windows Mobile Professional, and are with Verizon, this is the one to beat! Don't get it just yet though, as Mobile Speak Pocket doesn't officially support it yet. They were just good enough to send me a beta of the next version.
Next week, I'll be in Asheboro, NC, with Daniel Waters at a youth camp. I'm preaching three times, and so is he, so please pray for us there! Their pastor just died yesterday. It was expected, but still, it doesn't make our job any easier. The week after, I'll be in Houston at Shady Acres Baptist Church! I'm excited for that, too! Anyway, till my next random update, God bless!
