I lied!
What can I say? I'm sitting here with my Mac, and inspiration has struck again! Actually, I've been feeling inspired lately with a number of things! Last night, I went to mom's house next door, and got my other keyboard out of my brother's room. I bought it last summer, thinking it would be easier to bring to people's houses to play when we got together, because it has built-in speakers, which the Yamaha does not. I used the thing one time before I moved, so it was almost a waste of $500, but I felt inspired to play. I brought it over here and set it up. I had to clean it, because my brother apparently used it as a table, and spilled junk all over the keys, and there was no way I was playing it and getting my hands all nasty from whatever it was he spilled. So, after cleaning it, I watched that clash of the choir show that April's been raving about, and jammed along with it. Fun!
This morning, after I did the coffee thing, I played for a good while, just brushing up on some stuff that I've let go for a long time. Playing like that really makes me realize how inadequate a musician I really am, and how my technique is terrible now! That needs to change, and I've decided to practice piano for at least 20 minutes a day, just to improve dexterity in my fingers.
I've also been learning guitar theory. I figure, since I've got this expensive guitar, I need to do something with it. It's not just going to collect dust, and although I'll probably never play really well, I at least want to learn my way around it so I can fake people out. if you can't make it, fake it! So, lots of new things I'm going to try to do. I'd also love to get a good vocal coach to help me get rid of some of my bad habits, mainly gasping when I breathe while singing. I was listening to a cd of myself tonight, and it's definitely annoying!
Everybody's still on me about recording a project of my own. Bla! If only I had the inspiration! I'm just so burnt out with the studio. If I do it, I'll get the Dixons to sing backups, and Jared, Peter, and Nathan to play music, and just get in front of an audience, and record live. It's the only way it'll happen! Sorry, Teah, even though you beg, I'm not putting out something just for the sake of having it.
