Americans really are stupid!
Catching up with the online world, i just read A's post about Sam Harris's commentary on the ludicrous decision to place Sarah Palin as the Republican V.P. nominee.
First - i'm a bit disturbed, tho not entirely surprised, that only one of our friends had anything to say about it. Yet post something stupidly funny from a TV show and everyone jumps into the pool. i've not been horribly politically active nor even much aware of what goes on until the first Bush administration. Not that i was completely oblivious, i just didn't care much, nor did i think it really mattered what i thought. But, in the words of the immortal Bob Dylan, "The times they are a-changing." People, you no longer have the luxury to be complacent or oblivious. Every hour that you spend shell-shock-glued to your television and video games is another four years of oppression you are forcing on future generations. i don't think Obama is the grand savior and the answer to all our woes. But i do know without a doubt that putting McCain in the driver's seat will be the worst thing that could happen to America. In the past eight years we've seen our invaluable civil liberties usurped by a short-sighted administration that we, the complacent and easily-led citizenry of the United States put into power. Shame on us. Shame on all of us. Take an unbiased, critical look at Palin's experience, her political record, and her stance on basic human rights and you will see that it would be nothing short of criminal to put this inexperienced, close-minded religious bigot one heart attack away from the most powerful position in the world. i repeat: The Most Powerful Position in the World.
i have friends all over the globe and i can assert that the world-view of America right now is at an all time low, due mainly to the selfish, cruel, inhumane, and outright criminal acts of our current administration. This is your chance to skew their vision a little, though it will take a lot of time and some serious action to set things somewhat right.
