DUCKIE QUILT: Progress Report

Feb 26, 2009 18:15

When I was visiting my aunt, I picked up the pattern and fabrics for the CUTEST baby quilt, featuring fabric with rubber duckies in puddles with UMBRELLAS. These pics show what I did yesterday and today. No, I did not spend two solid days working on this. Just most of two days. XD Until the power goes off (which has happened twice today GRRR) or until it get darkish, as I STILL haven't replaced all my light bulbs. XD

Pretty, pretty, freshly washed fabrics waiting for ironing. The purple dragon is a scorchio. His name is Fred.

Ironing! Only I then realized that ironing on my cutting mat would be a BAD idea. Fortunately I realized this before I started. XD

This is the fabric that will be the backing of the quilt. COULD IT BE ANY CUTER???

All the fabrics I bought while in the US. From left to right: for doll clothes/aprons. For doll quilt. For duckie quilt!

This is the 'theme' fabric.

Scrap pile. Knowing me, these 'scraps' will NEVER be thrown away, but saved and incorporated into doll clothes. XD

The blocks!

TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER. Honestly. Does the iron look like an alien robot only to me??? Don't answer that. *shifty eyes*

(yes, that is my desk and laptop in the background)

Jess likes to live DANGEROUSLY. Also. Blurry picture is blurry.

She also has decided that my sewing = her bed. *makes note to find old sheet to cover stuff with for tonight*

This is as far as I've gotten. Two rows of three blocks all sewn into one big block, the others framed and pinned to the sashing. (HAI FRED)

So you can see better. ^_^ After all these get sewn together, I'll put in a row of yellow, then a wide row of umbrella fabric, quilt it to the backing, and then bind it with the blue! But that'll take a while. I learned with the little dolly quilt that my sewing machine does NOT quilt well, so hand quilting. And the sewing store said it'll be a couple of weeks before they'll get the right sort of batting (soft stuff to go in the middle) in.

Then I'll just need a good friend to have a baby so I can put it to good use. *looks meaningfully at certain married friends who have yet to produce any offspring for me to coo over*

And spent the entire time I was working thing about and planning Guardian Wars. :D :D :D

Guardian Wars = sci-fi story that I'm currently focusing on. XD

crafty things, quilting, guardian wars, public
