Parting is such sweet sorrow.....

Behemouth, 2006-2009.

Last night, at 10:30pm, Behemouth, after 3 and half years of commanding service, died a relatively quick and painless death as I frantically tried to save its systems.

Yes, my computer is DEAD.

Apparently, the fatal flaws of the Inspiron Notebooks was it's ultimate undoing- the screen system went kapoey. (This is apparently a common flaw in the older Inspirons, as I now have dealt with 2 systems with this problem- although my problem seems to be worse- even the external monitor system is shot)

I admit, this really set a panic attack for me. I live off my laptop, for my freelance graphic design work and my prefered way of keeping in contact with my vast clan. And, you know, talking to you guys on a regular basis.

But by sheer luck, I managed to get a new Dell laptop (with the 17 inch screen I've come to need desperately), complete with a free upgrade to Windows 7 this fall, for less than I was expecting to pay- my original was a Dell custom built for grad school.

They're currently shunting everything off my old laptop, and should be ready by 4 today. Man, I'm going to have to try and find my Photoshop CS2 disks now. WAAAAAAAAAAH.

Any helpful information you have on working with Vista would be lovely.

Edit: Also, does anyone know if you can hook a laptop HD into an external casing? I have a spare (...what? I'm a geek) that I'm not using at if I can still access any presets I can off it, it would be awesome.
