Joe was like a kid, he got excited for routines. Monday was football day. Wednesday was lasagna night and Friday was walk in park with Bob night. He was too busy to take Bob for substantial walks often so he felt it was important to make this time once a week ( Read more... )

Rachel, as usual, had her own agenda. Cuddy had tried everything to get her daughter to hurry up so they could go to the park but the little girl dilly-dallied...right up until Cuddy told her they were going to see a doggie. That was enough to grab Rachel's attention. After that, Cuddy couldn't move fast enough to suit Rachel.

Once at the park, Cuddy got the stroller from the trunk of the car. Rachel absolutely refused to get in it but Cuddy didn't really care. The stroller was for later when Rachel got too tired to walk. And she would get tired if she got to play with Bob.

She made Rachel hold her hand as they crossed the grass, not letting go even when Rachel saw Bob. The little girl started pulling at her hand, yelling 'doggie' in an excited voice.

"Hey," Cuddy said as they reached Joe and Bob. She kept hold of Rachel's hand, not wanting her to 'attack' Bob and possibly startle him.

He laughed at Rachel struggling to get to Bob. Bob was sitting happily next to Joe, his ears flapping in the spring wind, his tail wagging, his nose a little wet, a Cracker Jack stuck in the fur on his neck-- typical Bob.

"She can play with him, he's good." He grinned and kissed Lisa's cheek, being PG and all. "I would introduce myself but I don't think anything is going to register until she gets to pet Bob."

"You're not furry enough to capture her attention," she laughed, returning his kiss. She knelt down with Rachel and took the little girl's hand in her own and held it out for Bob to sniff.

"You have to say hello to the doggy before you play with him," she told Rachel. Bob might be a good natured dog but not all dogs were as social as he was. She wanted to teach Rachel the right way to approach an animal so she didn't get accidently hurt by a dog who misinterpreted her enthusiasm.

Rachel giggled when Bob licked her hand and Cuddy released her to pet him. She stood up and gave Joe a small shrug. "Give her a minute to love on Bob and then she'll notice there's someone else around."

Dog sometimes mistake excitement for a threat and become aggressive. Not Bob of course, Bob wouldn't known a threat if it jumped on him but nonetheless, Joe was impressed by what she was teaching Rachel.

Bob licked Rachel's head with his massive tongue which seemed even bigger compared to the little girl. He sat contentedly, his tail wagging, his ears blowing in the mind, happy for all the attention. "It's a match made in heaven, look at that."
