My mother is determined to kill me

So yesterday I gave my mom a call around 8am to wish her a happy birthday and got her answering machine. I made the assumption she was in the shower or walking Daisy, so I waited for her to call me back. By the time Tracy got up at 8:30 she still hadn't called, which was out of character. However, knowing of her amazing ability to call me on the weekend whenever I'm napping or in the shower, I did the latter, fully expecting to hear the phone ring just as my hair was full of shampoo.

Nothing.

8:45am I called again and got the answering machine again. This had me worried now. She doesn't even go to church on Sundays during the summer due to the heat and Robin had left the day before to head back to North Carolina. So I left Tracy to mind the kids and drove over, just as Rae was stepping out of the house.

As it turns out my famously fried memory got me again. Robin left that morning, and Rae and Mom drove her to the airport, which is why no one was answering the phone. So I had a nice conversation with her for a while, waiting for my heart to stop pounding, then went home with a bag of leftover crab legs she wasn't going to eat.

And her birthday isn't until Wednesday. Facepalm.

life, family, mom
