1. Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).
2. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and doing a Paste (CTRL + V).
3. Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop if you want. You can explain why you prefer such a look or why it is full of icons. Things like that.
I actually used the Snipping Tool (what a wonderful thing) instead of the print screen option, so didn't have to follow step 2. Those of you with Windows Vista have this little program too, look for it =). Also, as you can see, I prefer a clean desktop.
As for the explanation: I have the whole despair.com set as my screensaver, and a different image for each of my computer sessions. Yes, I have different sessions: Office, Professional, Personal (the three of them on my personal laptop; the last one shows here), and Mine (in the family's shared PC). All of these sessions' desktops are basically the same, except for the image and a couple icons on the sidebar. The only things in my taskbar, beside the basic Windows buttons, are the Show Desktop and IExplorer buttons at the left, and the Messenger and Windows Live One Care (anti virus & spyware program; currently hidden) status icons at the right.
I only have two gadgets on the sidebar: AppLauncher and SystemControl, both downloaded from the Windows Vista Gallery. The second one is the same in all sessions. As for the icons in the AppLauncher, the ones on the first two sections I have for all the sessions (basic Windows & Office, plus my favored PDF reader); the last section changes depending of what I use on said session. For example, the PC one is the only that has a BitTorrent icon, and only the laptop ones link to the Windows Live Mail.
I also have different passwords for every sessions; the Office one has no password at all, so if somebody needs to find some info from my computer while I am not at the office, it can be done easily -- except for the Really Important Info, which is under password. My Office session only works with the corporation IP, and I can't use any other session at work. My Professional session is where I store all the information about every network I've been connected, except for the office: home, airports, hotels, cafes, Universities, libraries and other hotspots. My Personal session only works at home, as does the Mine (PC) session, of course.
I only visit certain sites and use certain email addresses with specific sessions: Office for everyday work, the one I recieve cheques twice a month for -- it includes the corporation internal network and many gob and gov sites, as well as the corporation official mail and IM service; Professional for extra work, courses, my thesis and other investigations -- it includes many net and edu sites, as well as my family and friends emails; and Personal for my fandom life -- including LJ, PhotoBucket, Blogger, Vox, FFnet, GoogleDocs, emails from my various aliases ... as well as the ebooks reader, images programs and a couple music files.
The PC session has a password too, but everybody in my family knows it. I only use it to download the family pictures on the external drive, to download torrents from time in time, to store the music files (I change the couple albums I keep in my 4GB USB every week, depending on what I feel like listening in the laptop), and to track my nephew's use of his PC session. And to play The Sims 2, too =D. My laptop gets backup-ed every Wednesday, and goes under a complete revision every Friday (to free space, reduce fragmented files, and have a major anti virus & spyware revision instead of the fast, superficial, daily ones). The PC goes under the same once a month.
I think I might be a little insane ... I also clean the laptop every morning before I start using it, and keep every cord perfectly stashed. As for the PC, I have to clean the screen every time I use it, as I can't stand fingerprints or dust on it. Moreover: except for the ebooks I download, every little thing in my sessions (I don't know about my brother's) is legal, music and programs included (I use freeware, shareware, trial versions or GNU when I dont feel like buying software); and I always am trying to buy the books on printed format, as reading in the screen is a bitch.
And I think this was TMI.
