facebook update
So a few weeks back I took advice on joining facebook and then, coincidentally, I joined a class which required I use facebook for writing prompts. So I joined, but kept quiet.
The last two days I've been sick at home, however, and I started exploring it. I've located people I've been out of touch with for years, including a bunch of people from both my U of Washington days in Seattle (at The Daily, the newspaper, mostly) and from UCLA. Even an old friend who is directing plays and wonders if I have any. (I had given up, but it's nice to be wanted.)
I've sent out about 15 more invites than I've received confirmations. That includes a few people I may have gotten wrong, and at least 3 of my closest friends here in LA (perhaps they're trying to tell me something?). One friend I lost track of after he went back to teach English in China. His first year over there he found where his Grandfather (and his family) had lived in Shanghai. He loved it so much he went back, and then I moved to LA, and then time moved on. I hope it's him that I found.
In other searches, Looking up his father, I found the formerly two year old boy I took care of in our travels through Poland. He's about 14 now. I didn't bother him. I also think I found a nephew of mine, son of an estranged sister. I didn't bother him either.
I keep encountering at least one person I don't want to see. So far, that's the "worst" of it.
I can see how facebook could require a great deal of maintenance. Anyway, after two days being sick at home, I'm returning to work today. I hope you all have a fantabulous Friday.
