Ohkura closed his eyes breathing in Shige’s scent as they kissed. The taste of alcohol on Shige’s lips was strong. Even in his own drunken stupor it was bitter on his tongue. Shige had taken the alcohol from his hands quite abruptly. Ohkura had no indication as to why Shige had changed his mind so suddenly after when less than an hour earlier he had been adamant that he was teetotal.

Maybe he had felt left out.

Ohkura had been drinking since the moment he had entered Shige’s small apartment that evening, taking out the alcohol from a plastic bag and downing half a bottle of lager as a way to show Shige what he was made up of. In the end he’d spent half the evening talking animatedly about god knows whatever to Shige, complete with flaily hand movements and a lot of laughter.
Ryo had been very sure about the drinks.

“Make sure Shige has a few drinks down him.” He had said, “You’ll both benefit from it, believe me.”

Ohkura didn’t want to ask how Ryo was so sure but was surprised to see how much Shige changed once he’d been drinking. He had become much more tactile and, to quote Shige’s own words, slutty. Shige’s hands were freely roaming Ohkura’s body, stroking his sides and legs. Ohkura had no desire to stop him instead clutching at his ass, bringing Shige closer towards him.

It had all been Ryo’s idea originally. Ohkura didn’t even know what Ryo had been planning until much later. He knew exactly which conversation had sparked it though. There was only one moment that it could have been. He remembered his words exactly and the exact moment he had blurted it out.

He had been drinking that night too.

“Oh god, Shige is so hot.” He had said through his drunken stupor whilst watching a News PV intently that had suddenly turned up on TV, “you’re so lucky to be in a group with someone who is as hot as that.”

After the initial shock Ryo’s immediate response had been protective. It seemed that even though Ryo spent his time with two groups he was protective of them both, even to members of the other group. When he realised Ohkura hadn’t really meant anything by it he had laughed and interrogated him through the night with questions of what he liked about him and when it had started. And his constant question was why.

Ohkura wasn’t able to answer why he liked Shige or even as to how serious he had been. At the time it had seemed like it really mattered. It had seemed like it was the most important thing in the world. Of course he liked Shige, despite the fact he barely knew him and only really saw him during the annual New Year countdown concerts. Even then contact between them had been limited despite having a link through Ryo. Ohkura wasn’t the most talkative person in the Jimusho afterall.

But that night he had spent a long time trying to convince Ryo of Shige’s hotness and his undying love for the other man, something he came to regret the next morning when his words came flooding back to him in a big mess of embarrassment as he attempted to sit up off where he lay on Ryo’s floor.

Surprisingly Ryo had mentioned none of it to the other members of Kanjani8 nor even, to his knowledge, News. He was a little relieved at that and hoped that Ryo had just taken it as another one of his drunken ramblings.

He was stunned a few days later when Shige turned up on his doorstep holding up a bento in his hand. He had just stepped out of the shower when the doorbell rang. He’d quickly pulled on the first jeans he’d found in his rush to answer the door.

“Kato-kun,” Ohkura greeted the man standing uneasily in front of him, unable to hide his surprise, “What are you - I mean, why? What.”

It was hard to hide his shock and confusion. Not only had Shige been gawping since he’d pulled open the door, but the memories of the night he ended up passed out on Ryo’s floor were forefront of his mind upon seeing the figure of Shige standing awkwardly in the doorway. Of all the people to wind up at his door, the fact that it was Shige and given the circumstances made his head rush. All of it dispersed quickly though when the bento Shige was handing him slipped from his hands and crashed onto Ohkura’s doorstep in a mash of rice and prawns.

“I-shit, I - oh no,” Shige gasped, absolutely horrified, “That - I, God.”

After some reassurance Ohkura had helped Shige clean it up and they’d eventually sat together in Ohkura’s apartment eating another bento Shige had miraculously produced from his bag.

He’d asked why Shige had turned up suddenly like that and at the mention of Ryo’s name he had felt sick and he shuddered. A sense of dread washed over him.

Later, before a filming he ambushed Ryo, “What are you doing?” He demanded.

Ryo just rolled his eyes and continued getting changed into his costume, “as if you don’t like it.”

And Ohkura just pouted, leaving it at that.

It had been a few weeks later when Ryo had stopped him one evening while they were in Tokyo for some promotions. He was just about to leave the station and head back to his hotel when Ryo thrust a bag full of DVDs into his hands and a note with directions scrawled upon it.

“Take these to Shige.” He demanded curtly, “And make sure he watches them. I know what he’s like. Tell him I’ll break his bones if he doesn’t.” Ryo was looking at him in a way as if to say and yours too.

“Why me?” Ohkura asked. “What are you up to?”

Ryo just smirked, “you best get going or you’ll miss the train.”

It turned out, to Ohkura’s embarrassment, that Ryo had given him old Honjani episodes. Not just any old Honjani episodes, but the ones where he was making a particular fool of himself.

Ohkura was horrified at the discovery. He shrieked, trying to keep the DVDs from Shige’s reach and frantically cursing at Ryo in his head.

“What are you trying to do?!” Ohkura whined the next day when he saw Ryo sitting back on a chair waiting for his turn during a photoshoot.

In the end, that night had turned out fine. Shige had laughed with him over his failings and rather than at him like Ryo would have. He could feel an admiration for Shige growing in his chest. It was set to burst out when Shige commented that next time they should watch old Ya-Ya-Yah episodes so Ohkura could watch Shige failing. Ohkura had begun to wonder if he had meant anything he said to Ryo that night after all. He had never accepted it himself that the feelings he confessed could actually mean anything more. He hadn’t thought that he could actually like Shige like he had said, but the way Shige had smiled at him started to make his head spin.

“I was drunk.” Ohkura defended as if Ryo was able to read his thoughts.

“You weren’t that drunk.” Ryo scoffed.

“So you admit it! You are doing something.” Ohkura practically accused.

“I’m just helping out a friend. I’m not doing anything sinister. Besides, I don’t know why you’re complaining you made your feelings very clear.”

“I was drunk!” Ohkura exclaimed with a little arm flailing, “Don’t expect me to be grateful or anything. You don’t need to do this. We can hang out on our own. We swapped numbers. I mean, I like hanging out with Shige, he’s fun. He’s a friend that’s all. So will you just stop all this, please?”

Ryo smiled slyly, “If you say so.”

A few days later Shige turned up at his door with a handful of CDs. When Shige’s sentence began with “Ryo told me to give these to you…” Ohkura mentally groaned. He should have realised Ryo wouldn’t stop his meddling.

He’s pained to admit that Ryo made a good call. The evening they spent together had been enjoyable. The CDs turned out to be Shige’s favourites and Shige had pondered over why Ryo would be giving Ohkura all his favourite CDs but before he could wonder anymore he became distracted by the songs and the rest of the evening had been a lengthy, passionate discussion of music technicalities.

By the end of the evening Ohkura had to admit Shige had a pretty good taste in music.

Shige had fallen asleep on his couch and Ohkura watched him for a short while.

For someone who is supposed to be smart, Ohkura thought, Shige is pretty dense. He was surprised he hadn’t figured out the extent of Ryo’s meddling yet. Maybe Ryo knew he wouldn’t. Surely after being in a group with Shige for so long he had to understand the way Shige’s mind worked. Ohkura wondered if he would ever have that connection with Shige.

There was a slight possibility that there had been some truth in his drunken ramblings.

“Here.” Ryo said a few days later clanking a bag full of bottles on the table top, “take these to Shige.”

“But I’m not visiting him today.” Ohkura had protested more into figuring out drumbeats than going along with the ridiculous plan Ryo had got going.

“Yes you are, he needs the company” Ryo insisted pushing the bag closer, “just make sure Shige has a few drinks down him. He’s a pansy when it comes to this and you’ll both benefit from it, believe me.” Ryo grinned before leaving Ohkura alone with the drinks.

And that’s how he ended up lying on the floor with Shige on top of him kissing him hard and grinding his hips against his. It was a rush of limbs and groans and of feverent kisses and caresses and they rock against each other. Suddenly as it got hotter and Ohkura’s breathing became harder, Shige lay over him, limp and snoring lightly.

Ohkura couldn’t help but laugh softly at Shige’s sleeping form. He softly ran his hands through the other man’s hair, caressing him lightly. He lay back closing his eyes to fall into a slumber of his own.

Ryo was laughing.

Ryo had been laughing for the last five minutes, “He fell asleep!” He choked out between fits of giggles, before laughing some more.

“Yeah.” Ohkura replied not impressed with Ryo’s reaction. They were standing in a corridor on a Tuesday morning. News and Kanjani 8 just happened to have a photoshoot together that day. A very rare occurrence but one which Ohkura is glad for as it means he gets to see Shige, but on the other hand Ryo is still laughing.

“There is no hope with you two. I’m going to have to show you guys how to do it if you carry on like this.”

“Don’t you--” Ohkura begins but is cut off by some staff member calling their names to begin the shoot.

The shoot is interesting and loud with so many people there. News are professional, Kanjani 8 less so until they have to be. Ohkura doesn’t care either way. He can’t help but glance at Shige, his heart skipping a beat whenever they happen to catch each other’s eye.

Ryo hasn’t stop grinning the entire time. When he’s not in conversation with Yamapi, he sits waiting and just watching Shige with that annoying smirk plastered on his face.

After the photoshoot is wrapped up Ohkura keeps a surreptitious eye out as Ryo walks over to Shige, wrapping his arm around the other’s shoulder and saying something to him. Ohkura sees Shige’s eyes widen and his mouth forms a perfect ‘O’.

Ohkura quickly cuts in.

“Anyone hungry?” he asks.

“Yes.” Ryo grins dangerously, “Shige just said the three of us should hang out tonight. Isn’t that a great idea?”

Ohkura smiles, “Sure, that sounds great.”

Ohkura isn’t sure exactly what Ryo has planned but if he knows Ryo the night is sure to end in sex and he can’t argue with that.
