Hisashiburi da yo~~~~ ;P
I wanted to chat for a bit about Vampire Knight, whose first volume came out recently and proceeded to outsell new volumes of One Piece and Black Cat. (See
here).)
Vampire Knight is an uber-shoujo vampire/romance/drama manga. I stumbled across it in Lala, the mangabon that publishes Host Club, and started following it a bit. It's one of those series that is really soap opera-esque, but still addictive. The kind I'm somewhat ashamed to admit to reading. Like Marmalade Boy, except with vampires, and without possible incest.
So I'm actually pretty surprised to see it so high on the list, especially since it's only the first volume-- it hasn't been heavily scanlated or anything, so it's not like it had the built-in following that some manga do. I definitely think Host Club is superior to it, but OKHC is three spots below it in the sales.
I guess it's nice to know that I'm not the only person who likes it, but I'm kind of scared to seek out fans of it for fear that they're all giggly googly pubescents ._. Which is awfully stereotypical of me, but eh, there it is.
