I have this "friend" on Facebook from my gospel choir. She's kind of scary, posts about a million times a day about how much she loves Jesus, and I kind of want to strangle her, because enough already. Today she made a comment on the Swedish church's decision to allow same sex marriages to the point that it would bring very bad consequences. I'm firmly pro same sex marriages, not based on any expert knowledge of the Bible, but out of simple humanity. I mean if you can find love, you're lucky and it's beautiful no matter if it's a woman and a man or two men or two women.
Anyway I made a small comment on it, mainly how I was kind of proud of the Swedish church trying to rid itself of intolerance or something like that and thus got all the comments made on that entry straight to my e-mail inbox. Joy! I had aggressive Christians hurling Bible passages at each other like insults all night and it makes me so ill at ease that now I can't sleep. Whatever happened to "Love thy neighbour"? And if you believe in the Bible, shouldn't you respect it more than that? And mostly I can't understand how anyone can consider it wrong to love another human being.
The whole trying to squash each other with Bible words thing made me think of "Jesus Camp". Scary, scary documentary. Using faith as a weapon to skew young minds or any minds. I kind of want to watch that again. Or really, I'd just like to sleep. There will be no more commenting on devout Christian girl's Facebook.
