I just got back from Tinsley's birthday dinner. The party was Friday, but I was in MI, so Tins, Jim (her fiancee), and I did dinner tonight (her actual birthday) instead. I love Jim and Tinsley, but I almost always feel like a third wheel. I mean, come on, they're engaged.

Nonetheless, a birthday dinner was had. We went to Joe's Crab Shack and had some pretty good seafood.

Afterward, we stopped by Target. Tins needed some mascara, and we went in with that sole purpose. Needless to say I walked away with a bag full of clothing. My big purchase was that of two bathing suits. This may not seem huge, but I never wear bathing suits, ever. My usual excuse is because I can't swim. However, it's kind of a chicken and egg situation. I can't remember if I never learned how to swim because I wouldn't wear a bathing suit, or if I wouldn't wear a bathing suit because I didn't know how to swim.

So what's changed? Well, I'm endeavoring to become a lot less self-conscious when it comes to my body. This has led to serious problems in the past. My new attitude is 'your body is your body - you do what you can to keep it in shape but, ultimately, you've got to play the hand you're dealt'.

I'm excited about today's purchase because it feels like a step in the right direction.
