See that purple square with a 1? See the little purple dot beside it? Beginning August 21st, that's where I'll be working. I'm an official employee of the Corporate Executive Board in Washington, DC. Thanks to Emily's referral and coffee before my 3-hour multi-part interview, I got the job of Coordinator for the Creative Solutions Group. I would explain what it entails but I hate to be long-winded. Just know that the company is pretty incredible. If it isn't non-profit, it should be this. Here's my favorite page on their website...
http://www.executiveboard.com/About+CEB/Mission+and+Values/ AND... we have a house. Actually, we sign the lease tomorrow. It's a 4-bedroom row house on Euclid Street, close to U Street, a previously sketchy part of town. It's good and fun and safe now. I promise. Visit me, you must. There's some Yoda for you. Here's the page on craig's list...
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/apa/185486565.html So, life moves quickly, but I'm a very happy girl. The reality of moving so far away hasn't entirely hit me yet. Ok maybe it did just then. Here's the breakdown:
1/8 scared
1/8 anxious
1/4 excited
1/2 squirmy
I love to paint-by-number. Lynn planted the idea in my head. I've finished one painting already and I did half of one today. It's all I've done since waking up, besides eating and blowing my nose, of course. No, not eating my nose. Eating food and blowing my nose. Don't be silly.
I watched CNN for a long time today. I don't know why because they say the same thing over and over again. Hezbollah is evil. They bomb Israel then use Lebanese civilians as shields. Israel won't stop because they want a "sustainable cease fire" ...understandable. But let's consider the inevitably grim bigger picture. For every child whose family is destroyed by this conflict, add one year to the era of violence in the Middle East. Smush Hezbollah into the ground. Get 'em good, Israel. But that Hezbollah fighter you just killed was somebody's parent. If my family members were killed by an Israeli missile, I'd become a violent extremist too. So it goes. Good luck with the next generation of fighters. Your reasoning and strategy are flawless. I'm sure it'll be fine in the end. Especially with the U.S. on your side.
All in the name of beautiful, beautiful Zion.
