Diet fail

Nov 10, 2008 10:40

Before the wedding, I was determined to lose weight (my dress wouldn't zip -- now that's inspiration). And I did. I mostly followed South Beach, which is a low-carb diet (not no-carb).

Then, after the wedding, I went a little nuts. I ate bread and chocolate and cookies with abandon. And all that weight came right back on.

I took a step back and said, ok, this is no good. Go back to the diet. And I did, for about a week and a half. I didn't notice any weight loss (didn't weigh myself, just going by the way my clothes fit).

But I never really did it full steam ahead. I cheated. I drank alcohol some nights and on one memorable occasion I scarfed two stale cupcakes in under a minute. So it's not really a surprise that I didn't lose weight.

I'm just finding it harder to motivate this time. Sometimes I really hate how I look and sometimes I just flat out feel bad, but these feelings are fleeting and the pleasure derived from hot, toasty bread covered in melted cheese seems longer lasting.

Moderation, moderation, moderation. Wish I could listen to myself.

health, diet
