Sleepless in Michigan

Started Friday night, going to celebrate Jen and Ashley´s bdays at Good Time Charlie´s, with the Monroe/EMU crew.  Very cool to see everyone, though Good Time Charlie´s itself would be much better if they added some music and a dance floor..  bueno, between the friends, the mini cupcakes, the ´tipsiness´, the failed attempts to get me to dance on the tables (completely sober mind you :P ) , it was a fun night overall!  In the end, we even made it over to Rick´s for about 25 minutes of dancing!  Rick´s well, it pretty much hasn´t changed, but in any case, it was the closest and most convenient to get in a little dancing!  Some music was really weird, but they played some Spanish music at the end which I really enjoyed :)  Then back to Kara´s it was and of course, when 5 girls are together, no one´s going to sleep until after some talking, especially after such a long time! jeje  I think I finally fell asleep around 4.30am..

..and then my alarm went off at 7.30.. ouch!!  Not only that, but I had to drive about 3 hours out to Rick´s apt. in western Michigan.  Luckily, Tanya rode with me and we talked the whole way, making it easier to fend off tiredness and much rain :P  Upon arriving with Rick and the others, we all went over to Rick´s parents´ house to go to the lake!  The rain had backed off, and despite being a little chilly, we were still able to enjoy.  We went out on the boat and I got to try water skiing for a while- however I was disappointed as I never got up!  What the heck!  I got up the first day in my life when I tried, but I couldn´t get up at all yesterday.. oh well.. Later on Rick impressed us with his great wakeboarding skills- how cool!

The time at the lake was abruptly ended when Rick cut his head, trying to do a backflip off the side of his boat.  He ended up going to the hospital to get 7 staples.. ouch!  He was however in good spirits and we all (about 24 people by this point!) went back to his single apt. to watch a couple of movies and then crash for the night!  Talk about testing out the apt´s capacity to the MAX! haha  People were sleeping everywhere.. some described it as looking like a train station, while I referred to it as one huge orgy haha  As they say, the more the merrier, no?!  hehe  I could have done without all of the snoring though :P  As my luck had it, I got to hear Rick snoring at my side along with Adrian and a couple others who were also near me- needless to say, another almost sleepless night :P

This morning we awoke to fabulous weather and after watching some Borat (one of the most hilarious movies ever, btw) we went back to the lake for more fun activities.  I spent a good amt. of time chatting with Tina and Kasia on the big trampoline raft before going for some boat rides.  Unfortunately, I didn´t have the chance to try skiing or even wakeboarding, as we left to head back to Ypsi in the afternoon.  After lunch, a photo shoot and some goodbyes, we caravaned it back to Ypsi.  I had some of the new ´kids´ in my car, George from Georgia, Dasha and Aizhie, to keep me entertained, especially when we passed the others in the caravan hahaha  Dasha decided to ´shoot their tires´ with my club, while George was waving my ET out the window :P  We weren´t quite ready to head home, so the ´kids´, Az, British Michael, Dave, Adrian, Tanya and I went to Pita Pita for some nice Mediterranean cuisine and more talk about their central Asian countries.  It´s been very cool and interesting to get to know people from these countries, including the ´-stan´ countries and Georgia and Armenia.  I may just be adding a few more places to my travel list jeje :P

Overall, it´s been a great weekend and I realize even more that I´m going to miss everyone when I leave again next week..
