Man, how long has it been since I busted out a Torchwood icon? I just streamed the first episode of Miracle Day on Comcast's website, so here are my (brief) thoughts.
First I will state my opinion on Children of Earth:
-I am sad what happened to Ianto and what they did to his character. I also think what they made Jack do was fucked up.
-I did overall think it was a step up for broader-audience Torchwood, so I can't fault them for that. I've watched the series a couple times, and I've accepted it. I even enjoy most of it.
-I went into Miracle Day just wanting to see more from Jack, Gwen, Rhys and Andy, because I still love their characters.
Now thoughts on the episode:
-The first episode was pretty slow, but that's understandable since they have to educate new audiences on Torchwood. I don't know how well it will leave new people wanting more though.
-It still had a bit of that typical Torchwood cheese factor, like hitmen who fail at working their weapons properly.
-I like Esther and Rex thus far.
-I will be so sad if this is all we get from Andy.
-I'm glad they kept the actors for Gwen's mom and dad. Hey, I'm pleased by little things.
-That Cardiff overhead shot. and the Plass. :____:
-I want a good explanation as to why Jack's mortal again. He's a fixed point in time. I want a legit reason, not hand waving.
My free time this week went into the Canucks primer for _pucking, so I've only managed to read one chapter of Deathly Hallows. I went from having over 2 weeks to less than 1! Hopefully I can make a major dent this weekend.
