Going to Erie yesterday was amazing. We really need to do more road trips XD It was my 2nd trip to PA, my first being a layover in Pittsburgh on the way back from the 4th grade trip to Florida[so I don't think it should count!].

The trip participants ended up being Everett, Elisa and Jamie :) We left RIT around 3:00, loaded up with snacks and a playlist full of 11 hours of my favorite music[I went a little overboard, the trip was only 5 hours both ways XD;]. The drive wasn't bad at all, and there weren't too many annoying drivers on the road. My passive-aggressive road rage was at a minimum, just the occasional screaming at people for abusing the left lane.

We got there around 5:30, and decided to stop at Wendy's to grab some food and observe the PA locals. We were thoroughly amused when we looked across the parking lot and saw a store called "House of Foam and Fabrics" XD We ended up seeing two students from Mercyhurst inside. The conversation was interesting, between talking about the two mercyhurst guys, to talking about how ghetto our home towns are, to why Everett has the school spirit edge on all of us XD;; [I won't go into detail.]
After that, it was time to try to find the college. But first, we obviously had to pit-stop at "House of Foam and Fabrics" and get a picture.

I will be extremely amused if they had security cameras outside their place, because we acted like idiots. Especially when Everett pretended to be hit by my car when I drove off without him XD

It wasn't too hard to find the college, it was only a couple turns off. We made a mental note to return to the Dairy Queen we passed on the way there. It's not fair, I've seen so many commercials for the place but there isn't one near me! As for the college, it reminded me a lot of LeMoyne in size and architecture. The front gates were very-much like the entrance to St. Mary's Cemetery though o__O;

It was hard to find the rink at first; it was kinda behind the gym and fitness center. It was interesting to see another school's rink. I was a little sad though- I wanted to see how obsessive with hockey other schools are, but MH was on spring break[an excuse to make the drive again perhaps?]. We pretty much go all-out with spotlights, cheers, the band and so on at the Ritter. I'll probably have to go to one of the big schools to see stuff like that though. Their rink was alright. All the seats are on one side. The bleachers were nice though, made lots of noise when we stomped XD the bathrooms were atrocious, it was like toilet paper spit balls thrown up there, but spit wasn't used to make them. *gag* At least we could hear the announcer, unlike at Buff State where Canisius plays. What I did love was the old guy ticket-taker and the old-guy announcer[who also sang the national anthems... the Canadian one in french and english!]. They were adorable, and it made the rink seem more home-y. Also, like half the RIT people in attendance won the prizes they raffled off because the odds were so good with the low attendance! The best thing ever though had to be what was on the back of the ticket stubs:

So there were like 150 people there, at least 30-40 being RIT fans and probably a majority of the rest being family of MH players. The RIT fans were the loudest though, and we even got a "Hey Song" in before the game.

We started out the game really on the ball. We were on the attack for most of the 1st and second periods, sometimes even out-shooting MH on their own power plays. Ringwald scored the first and only goal of the 1st period pretty late in the game on a Power Play. Last year our PP team was killer, and they haven't been performing up to that standard this year. But in the second half of the season they have definitely picked up the pace, getting PP goals in the past 7 games. Our PK team was playing great too, fending off a 5-on-3 from the goal-starved MH team :D We got a penalty shot as well on a MH PP, but it hit the post[the goalie was down so it probably would have gone in. We sang "Happy Birthday" after that]. Lambert scored the second goal with about 8 to go in the second. Raymond got a penalty shortly after for interference, but the Sarazin didn't let them bother him when he got a short-handed goal 12 seconds later XD This was our second short handed goal in two nights[3rd overall this season], with Draper scoring the game-tying goal Friday night. This brought us to 3-0 at the end of the 3rd, and MH putting in their backup goalie. Also, apparently Lambert did something because he got an un-sportsman-like conduct call, giving them a 1:48 5-on-3 opportunity. But we were able to fend them off :) That ended the 2nd period, and we were feeling pretty good.

In the third MH definitely stepped up their game, and the Tigers seemed to falter a bit. We allowed 2 bad penalties, and they ended up getting PP goals on us. These two little brats were screaming in the corner "High School Goalie", but if Louis is one, what does that make their goalie XD we sufficiently drowned them out with "WE CAN'T HEAR YOU." It was quite sad they were the loudest fans of the night. Another moment of amusement was when we were screaming "WHINER" at their coach[and someone finished with "AND YOU'RE BALD!"], and one of the MH fans by us was like "HEY, THAT'S MY DAD!" That brought some amusement. Lambert wrapped up the game for us in the end scoring another goal later in the 3rd. Sometime after this a puck got shot in the rafters, and ended up smacking sweet, old announcer guy right in the head! He seemed confused, and then we saw the blood tricking down his bald head. It was so gross and sad, his tiny wife ran over to him and it took a while for the stupid paramedics to come over. We all applauded him as his wife walked him over to the EMTs. We saw him after the game and he looked alright, with a simple band-aid on his head. So the rest of the game lacked an announcer... Back to the game, MH pulled their goalie for a bit but it was ineffective. So final score 4-2 RIT :D

After the game we made a restroom pit-stop, and then headed out. We ended up cutting through a building on campus where we weren't supposed to be, oops. We were a little disoriented with the directions back, and I made a very speshul turn there that was probably very illegal and might of gotten us killed ^__^;; And of course we had to hit Dairy Queen! Everett's comments about the country-boy sweeping the floor had us in stitches. For my first trip to DQ, it was fun and delicious :)

The rest of the trip home was filled with jamming to music. The best moments were all of is dancing to 'Dragostea Din Tei' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody.' It's a good thing it was night time, otherwise we probably would have been a sight to see. Honorable singing mentions also go to David Bowie, Offspring, Tenacious D and even more Queen. Best part of the road trip, methinks. We got back around 12:30, and I quickly got upstairs to upload the pictures on Facebook.

So we get 3 points out of this weekend with the tie Friday. I would have liked 4, but given we had to fight for that 1 point, I'll take it. Now we're tied for 2nd with Sacred Heart[31 pts]; Army is in 1st with 33 pts, Air Force in 3rd with 30 points, and Mercyhurst rounding out 4th with 28 points. A sweep next weekend is dire if we want to secure 2nd place. Just please, god, don't let us match up with Canisius for the 1st round of playoffs. That would be very, very ugly.

Long story short: Amazing amazing amazing road trip. Totally worth the stress I gain for putting off my work. Must do again. I doubt anyone will read that entirely, but giant cookies if you do :P ideal situation: RIT sweeps Bentley next weekend, Sacred Heart beats army for 1 game, and ties the other[or SH sweeps Army, and we win over them in the tie-breaker]. Though honestly, we're already guarenteed to be in the top 5 so it's all good. Just as long as we're not stuck with Canisius!

Also, is it sad my Grandma has gotten to play the Wii before me? Not fair.
