time to post about camp yay!
I always have to make a post about how amazing camp was. but i'll try not to be to long with it. this years camp theme was channel surffing tuning into God.
saturday night i got there really late, everthing was set up and now there was some free time for the counselors. I was really excited to see Treacy and Kyle. it was fun having them there the whole week. I also met Kyle's girlfriend Katie and she is pretty awesome. we ended up playing king elephant yay its one of my favorites. i was king for only a little while though because tom made a stupid new rule lol. then we played signs til like 2 am. yay fun.
sunday counselors meeting and going over different things. went to lunch in elbe in that cute lil train restraunt. the kids arrived and we got our groups. I Ben Ranft, Chase, Maddi Groom, Mkenna Royal, and Shania. with my co counselors being Jessi Serquinia, Cami Peterson, and Mark Lorenger. we had to name our groups after tv families so we named our group the banks after the fresh prince of bel air. *sings song to herself* :) the rest of the week seems all blured togehter so i'll just name the highlights from it.
-Worship at camp is always amazing! singing songs for Jesus with kids is the best. this year 2 of the kids joind the worship team as one of their elective classes, and they did a great job of singing and doing the powerpoint.
-Smashface! the favorite game to play with the kids at camp, and a counselor favorite as well played it whenever we got the chance. its played with a volleyball and you're in a circle. once someone messes up they have to go to the middle. once there is someone in the middle you can hit the volleyball in the air 3 time and on the 3rd hit you try to smash the face of the person in the middle. if you miss or mess up then you join the middle. I love this game!
-the mudpit! dirty jobs theme day hooray. as a group one of the counselors was missing and we had to crawl through the mud and go through the creek and get a clue to find them. then take them back through again. Tom hurt himself earlier that day so he ended up getting the job of spraying us with the hose as we went through. i love getting muddy and dirty. and then jumping in the creek to get it all off.
-camper hunt and counselro hunt. different nights but both a blast to do. I wasnt found, but we did find our kids. this year all the kids's groups were found.
-relay races. who can put on the hawain clothes the fastest, who can shoot the water ballon on target and who can keep their ballon from being unpoped when tied around their ankle.
- Treacy and Adam in tu tu's and high heels, how could you not love that? it was for a skit, and it was a hoot.
-swiming! it was so stinking hot out so i was in the pool as long as i could be, which was like everyday from 2-5 pm. its fun to swim with kids.
-Midnight swim was awesome everyone in at once
-counselors only swim on friday while the kids watched a movie with the directors. made a sweet wilrpool, watched the guys wrestle and played smashface
-painting class. I went to the watercolor paint class as the elective class. it was pretty sweet other choices for the kids were photography, basketball, drama, and worship.
-bible class. did you know that different vegtables have shapes that are close to what body part they are good for? do you know what laminin is? its just about the awseomest thing ever. google it :)
-Leadership class. a class just for the conselors. split into two age groups one for 18 and under, one for 18 and up. I learned how to have a more effective conversation when needing to confront someone, and needing to coach someone through a problem. things that i'm pretty bad at and need to work on.
-Oatmeal and ice cream! my favorite camp breakfast plus all the other camp food there is amazing. yum!
-Campfire! me and Kyle teamed up to lead camp fire chossing the songs, and doing skits. then nancy told us the story of brother andrew. if you get a change you should read the book God Smugglers because thats the story about him.
welp thats all i can think of for now. I had a blast like i always do. horray for camp. i'm excired for when i can take my own group of kids to camp and direct it :)
