Skinny Puppy, Insomnia and a Burst of Creative Genius

Jun 24, 2004 13:07

I picked up my date for the Skinny Puppy show - the lovely mzfaerie and we got down to the Eletric Factory about an hour before doors opened. Chatted with psyton a bit about clubs in London (Slimelight, Torture Garden and I forgot the name of one of them) Other than that it was an uneventful wait.
The doors opened relatively on time. We proceeded up to the bar area and ran into Griffin, who I havent seen in about 4 years, he's getting married too, and YES ohmeohmy I remembered to say hello from you. He looked a bit surprised when I mentioned it too =)
Over the night we ran into lots and lots of people. You know who you are.
Some crap ass pre-opening act which I didn't get came on before Tweaker. It wasnt my thing and the dude just had some fixation with tampons and anal probing.
Tweaker were decent sort of a lounge act crossbreed of industrial music.
Skinny Puppy seemed to take their good ole time getting on stage. I was half-expecting to be blown away by their performance, but honestly wasn't. Granted I am extremely hard to impress. I ,maybe in a good year, am impressed by something once or twice during that year. I also suppose I spoiled myself by watching the Ain't it Dead Yet? live video religiously back in the day. Yah that was a long time ago and shit changes. I realized that while I like Skinny Puppy and i love some of there songs that I'm not into them like some people are. I think maybe I knew the name of one or two songs they played, which actually doesnt mean anything cause I am total bollocks at remembering song titles anymore. As for the stage show, it had its lively spurts, the video screen showed carefully arranged video images which sort of reminded me of flipping channels between CNN and the history channel with some nifty graphics and pictures of dead things interspersed. It definitely wasn't like seeing Bauhaus or the Sisters of Mercy. Still a decent show...
Afterwards we decided to head to Shampoo for the afterparty. I didn't stay that long my back was killing me and I was starving. But, it was fab to see absurdminded and his lovely wife the always fashionably stunning Kat. Chatted a bit with everyone and then made my graceful exit.

I got home and was exhausted...or so I thought...as soon as I laid my exhausted body down, my damned brain decided to kick in high gear and not settle down for hours. I eventually went downstairs and hung out with my kitties and watched the end of House of a 1000 Corpses on HBO. I think I feel asleep around 500ish and then was up again at 630 to feed the cats. Then i went back upstairs and slept until noon. Buster decided to wake me up by nibbling on my hands and attacking me.

During the insomniac hours I had a stroke of creative genious of my usual post-ironic and twisted humorous streak. too spill the beans or not spill the beans that is the question.... hmm... I think I will save the details of the photo project for another post and I will need models for it too.
