Day one of my Maui trip!!!

May 29, 2002 23:24

The flight was horrendous. We were crammed into the plane like sardenes. There was absolutely no leg room whatsoever. And that's saying a lot coming from someone who's only 5'2". The in flight movie was "A Beautiful Mind," which I accedentally slept through, and our bonus "we have too much time flying over the Pacific" feature was "Shallow Hal"...I did my best to sleep through that one. We landed in Honolulu for our connection flight, and I got my first breath of Hawaii air. Wow. I was surprised at how muggy it wasn't. I expected not to be able to breathe, but it was so nice. I finaggled our way on to an earlier connecting flight to Maui. Cool Beans...or so I thought. We were told our luggage would be there, but it wasn't. So we went to rent our car. We wanted a convertable, and ended up with a cherry red Mustang. WEEEEEE!!!!! The trip was finally getting better. FYI - did you know that if you wait until the last minute to rent your car, and don't make a reservation, you get a way better deal. Apparently it has to do with the at the counter competition. Very Cool Beans! Then we went back to the terminal to pick up our bags. They still weren't there. Ugh... Just as I was about to walk away the machine came on and began spitting out our luggage. Woohoo! I was one happy person. So we loaded up the car...and can I just insert here - my mom is the worst packer ever! She paked so much stuff for just 6 days! Her bags were so heavy! - ...and drove to the condo. I got sun burned on my shoulders on the way there. I have a feeling this is a prelude to what my entire trip will be like. Just call my lobster girl!!! Think tey'll know I'm from the main land??? LOL Our condo, by the way, is so cool. 1 bed, 2 bath with a kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Our back porch has a really great view of...um...the pool. But you can't help but have a nice view here. I sat out on the porch and watched the sun set. It was a little windy, and very cloudy, but oh-so-warm. Someone had Hawaiian music playing. It was just as I thought a Hawaiian sun set should be. Mom slept through it. hehe. When she woke up we walked down to the beach where there was still a bit of sun over the water. It's just beautiflu. Tomorrow we're going snorkling. I'll really be lodster girl then.
