- Moving - I am going to Mississippi! Since it could take between three and six years to finish my PhD (I am assuming it will take around four if there are no major problems, but sometimes things go horribly, horribly wrong) I am going to be there a while. And here is where I will be living!

It's decided.
I didn't get into Southern California, Mizzou, or Houston. The only one left is Western Michigan. They're still negotiating funding, so no telling when that will be over. Michigan is also much further away (Mississippi is a day's drive from Houston, and two hours from New Orleans, where become_a_robot is getting her MBA), and gets cold in the winter. PhD Applications
Oh god what am I doing this is madness.
So. I am applying to four schools. They either have PhDs in Creative Writing and Literature, or PhDs in English with creative dissertations. Three of them are among the best in the country. State of the Jenni Address
New semester. Woo.
School- Dante - This class is either going to be utterly fascinating, completely kick my ass, or possibly both. We're going through Dante's Vita Nuevo, Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The professor is the nerdiest nerd to ever nerd, and it's clear that he loves the subject he's teaching, which makes the lectures far more ( Read more... )

- Media & Society - This class is... Hrm. The actual class is all discussions/debates, but the tests are all listing theories by names, which I can't ever seem to remember. This is my skipping class for the semester; seems like half the time I can't be bothered to show up. The professor appears to like me in spite of this. ( Read more... )
