Well, things picked up a little bit yesterday evening. I went out again to try to shovel my car out of the snow. A guy from down the road happened to be going by at the same time, so he got out his chain and tow rope and pulled me out. I couldn't thank him enough, as I know coming home to get me un-stuck was the last thing my poor dad was wanting to do.
After spending all day working on both my brother and sister's cars, my father arrived home to the furnace not working...on the coldest night of the year. Dad was still gone working on the cars when my mom discovered that the house was quickly dropping in temp...like down into the 50's. I reluctantly went out to shovel a path through our snowy yard to the basement door (because we don't use our inside basement door, as it's in my room and for other reasons). Though he didn't really say so, I'm sure my dad appreciated it. Thankfully he was able to reset the furnace and it came back on, so we were all able to warm back up.
Today most of the schools were closed and when I got to work, I discovered that my boss had left a message telling me to close early at 2:00 (the library is supposed to be open til 8.). I didn't mind at all...especially since I was supposed to work til 4:30. So, I closed early after a very quiet, uneventful day and went home to eat lunch and watch TV. A short while later my sister came home from work and of course pulled into the yard into the exact same place that I did yesterday afternoon...and of course got stuck. I went out to try to help her, but we couldn't get her car out. We called a neighbor and he came over to help push, but that wasn't working. Then, two other neighbors, Donnie and Chris happened to be driving by at the same time, so they both came over and pushed her out all the way. This wind blowing thing really needs to quit because it's making the snow drifts come back higher and higher every day. If it doesn't stop, I don't think we'll be able to park in our yard much longer! We'll have to go park in the church parking lot or something! :-p
So Robert and Lora (his girlfriend) convinced me earlier that I should head out to Rochester to hang out with them, despite the horrific weather, and I, being the obliging, doting sister that I am, went. Of course. It took me forever to get out of Orleans County, but once I did so, the roads were fine. When I got out to Henrietta, we decided to go to Red Lobster for dinner, which was delicious. Then we went to Coldstone's for dessert...YUM, followed by a trip to the Pittsford Barnes & Noble, only one of the most beautiful places on earth. :-p I was good and only bought 3 books while I was there...and 1 magazine. :-p
It took me about an hour & 45 minutes to get home, as I drove around 30 most of the way. There were some places on the ridge where there was literally 0 visibility though, which was kinda scary! Thankfully I made it home fine though. Now, I need to finish a scrapbook page and I'll probably read a bit before heading to sleep.
OH! Also, 2 of my books arrived today. Hopefully everything else will come tomorrow.
AND...my friend Justin offered to get Photoshop for me. I told him I want it, but will never be able to buy it for $600+. He said "How about one dollar?" I asked him if he was serious, and he said it would be no problem to get it. YAY!!! :-D He works for the Rochester BOCES system as the computer guy, so he has access to stuff like that. But, YAY!!! I'm way excited, although who knows when I'll have time to figure out how to use it? :-p
Anyway, I have a lesson early tomorrow morning, so I really ought to finish up my night.
I'm just glad that today was better than yesterday!
Tomorrow will hopefully be good too...I'll get books in the mail, get lots of scrapbooking done when I get home from class, and Lora, my mom, hopefully my sister and I are going out to dinner.
Goodnight & Jesus' blessing on you all! :-D
