Goodbye my friend

Well...this has been an interesting weekend.  Unfortunately, it started Friday evening with the news that a childhood friend had passed away from cancer.  He's been fighting it but his lungs gave out and they couldn't bring him back this time.  Scott was Major in the Air Force.  He was serving in Japan when they found the late-stage cancer and he was being treated in Hawaii.  I'm glad his last months were spent in such a beautiful place.  He was a talented photographer - you can see some of his pictures here.  Scott was an amazing man and I'm going to miss him very much.

So as soon as I found out Scott was gone, I had to take 4 9-year-olds to see High School Musical 3.  It was a decent distraction.  The girls behaved beautifully and the movie wasn't too bad.  I liked the dancing in it.  The girls were entranced most of the time.  Then the girls came back to our house for a sleepover.  They finally went to sleep at midnight.  I figured they'd sleep late but nooooooooo.  My big cat went in there yelling and begging for them to get up and play with him.  At 7:00 am.  Stupid cat.  So I fixed pancakes and they were picked up by 10 am.  So you'd think I was done with kid stuff right?  Wrong.  She had another birthday party to go to at Chuck E. Cheese.  We headed straight over there.  It was Madelyn, one other girl and 15 boys.  She was in heaven.  Then we went home and I was able to crash on the couch and watch TV for a while.  The rest of the weekend was pretty normal stuff.  Laundry, cleaning, church...  I did watch my Sex in the City DVD.  It was awesome!  I didn't get to see it in the theatre.  But the extended version was great and so worth the wait.  And I loved getting online finally last night to see the HBP trailer.  I loved all the new images.  I even loved the last scene even though it was totally OOC.  I'm guessing they had to fit in the humor where they could.  I'm so excited that I'll get to see it with many of you at Azkatraz.

I guess I better get back to work.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!
