For most of the past year, we had internet via Comcast, and it was fairly stable. Then, not quite a month ago, we signed a three-year contract, and suddenly...
The most recent go-round: internet goes down hard-core on Thursday (the 25th). Wife calls, gets someone who cannot schedule anyone sooner than Monday (the 29th). Do we want money taken off our bill? Why yes we do. Also we would like to cancel the hell out of that new contract. Unfortunately, New Person On The Line cannot seem to understand what wife was saying and claims not to see any such contract, what are we talking about, also Comcast does not do three-year contracts anyway. Her supervisor follows this up by insisting that the problem must be with the modem, which must be ours rather than Comcast's.
Inasmuch as my wife still hasn't been granted the power to smite people with her mind, we are stuck waiting. We do have access to local libraries, and cell phones with data plans, so we're not entirely cut off. But still frustrating.
Monday, the tech comes, and determines that it isn't the modem (which is indeed Comcast's), or any of the wires outside. But huh, the wires inside the building (a set of six apartments) are dead. Possibly a Thing With Sharp Teeth was gnawing at the wires in the attic. They will have to rewire the whole damn building. When's the next time we're home again?
So we still don't have internet at home (except the aforementioned cell phones with not-that-extensive data plan), and won't until Saturday at the earliest. Yes, we have internet at work, but they do expect us to actually, y'know, work.
GRRRRR.
