My second
spn_reversebang posting day is here!
So this is the art for the second of my wonderful authors!
spiceblueeyes deserves so much credit for stepping in as a pinch hitter. She has been so energetic and excited about this whole thing and it was just tons of fun to work with her.
She came up with some wonderful ideas and an awesome story that incorporated the moodiness of the pieces. The story fit so well you'd never know it didn't come first.
Check out her awesome story here.
Yellow Eyes Stole My Soul- masterpost:
http://spiceblueeyes.livejournal.com/26406.html These are done with pen and some washing in watercolour. I played with the contrast in the photo cropper to get a little more dramatic light. This is the first time I've ever tried to set a mood with light like this. It was fun and makes me wish I had a drawing program or photoshop or something.
This was hastily done and I might have been a bit heavy-handed with the the paint and the "more" bar on the contrast adjuster. LOL I have a bit of a thing for really strong contrasts if it wasn't obvious here.
This was added last minute. Woah.. Profiles are not easy. I think Sam's nose is a bit too turned up but when I'd flatten it he looked too old.. so there you have it.
I had a really hard time with this colour on the face. It's a very grainy colour that leaves sediments, which is wonderful for landscapes and buildings for texture but combined with the 90lb paper didn't work well at all for skin.
I lost the light in his eye and the glass from the car window trying to keep in style with the other two paintings with the strong contrasts but oh well next time I'll know to leave more light there.
This challenge has been a lot of fun. It was the push I needed to learn to do some figure drawing. I still need a ton of practice and as always I am totally up for advice and concrit but this was a really great way for me to get motivated to sit down and focus on learning something different.
And again a special thanks for all their hard work and time going out to the mods
bauble,
julia_sets ,
attempt_unique , and especially
ksock for the extra hand holding and kind words. And
tanpopo03 for pestering encouraging me to join in the first place.
Also
mimblexwimble who even though she had to drop out of the challenge due to RL, chose my art in the first place and was just a real sweetheart and had some amazing ideas.
