Teaser Tuesday -- Sort of
Last night was one of those nights where everything went wrong. My daughter slammed her finger in a drawer. My son spilled half the carton of milk on the floor. Hours after bed, I found my daughter had leaked through her diaper and was SOAKED. Nothing like having to wake a child in the middle of the night to change them and the bedding.
After everyone was in bed, I sat down intending to write but it just wouldn’t come out. Which is fine. I really should be taking a break anyway. So I got on Picnik.com and suddenly life was good again. I love that site. Every graphic I’ve ever made, I made there using their free services. Now if only I had Photoshop…
While going through those files I talked about last week, I found an old novel I started years ago about aliens. And in that file, I found an alien dance ritual scene. Yeah. I have no idea. But despite how hokey it sounds, the scene was actually a lot of fun to read, and now I’m wondering if I can sneak it into a new sci-fi project. Have any of you seen Katy Perry’s Fireworks video? There’s this scene toward the end where all these people are dancing in what looks like a city center or a courtyard and they’re all shooting fireworks out of their chests (you really should watch the video to see what I mean!). All together, the song, the fireworks, it’s pretty amazing. I thought of that video while reading. I think it would be fun to write something epic like that video mixed with the ritual scene.
