Rest in Peace, Auntie Rhonda

May 08, 2011 02:51

The cancer finally took my Auntie Rhonda this week, which is why I've been quiet. We got to be real close in the past two years, and she was pretty much the family matriarch. Now that's on her daughter I guess. Still, when I left Australia, I thought that I would see her again. I guess I was wrong.

A couple weeks after we first moved there, I was sitting in the living room talking to her, and she was telling me about various mission trips she had been on. Then she said "When I get to Heaven, I think I'm going to sit with the Africans. Because they really know how to praise the Lord." Well, Auntie Rhonda, you're there now and I'm sure you're having a wonderful time with the Africans.

I still miss you.

Her poor grandkids won't have a grandma growing up now - both of them taken by cancer. Rhonda was 48 years old.
