"Do Not Touch" Building Challenge: Maxis Taste Dare #19 - Una House

Part Two: The Una House

Part two of my entry for dare #19 at maxis_taste . Enjoy!

One thing I have to say is: I like bedrooms. They are the most fun to decorate. So I made a one-bedroom house into a three bedroom house, which pretty much means I completely gutted and rebuilt the entire house. For that reason, I will give you the floorplan first:

became

(It's still the same house, I promise!)

I really tried to make this house look different to the first one I did - I mean, they weren't decorated by the same person, right? I think I failed at that - I have this uncanny inability to move away from one colour for a room. Everything I decorate has the same colour - this was evident in the Legacy house, the Smith house, and again in this house. Oh well...

I also had to make some sort of effort to landscape, because I got rid of most of the plants that were there when I expanded, so I stuck some hedges and such around the house.

Entry:

Den:

I built a room at the front of the house for no reason other than I couldn't fathom putting a piano right next to the front door. Then I decided it would be a den, because the room with the piano would have to be more formal.

Kitchen:

The untouchable item is the Fridge.

Simlish cereal box FTW!

Dining "room".

You can also see the easel I didn't "touch".

Living "room:"

The Untouchable Piano.

So in the original house, the room that's through that door was the original living room.

But I made it a bedroom. For an old lady who likes cats. *cough* *cough* who-I-may-or-may-not-have-named-Jo *cough*

The sofa was the untouchable item in this room. I hate that sofa. It doesn't match anything.

There is a small ensuite bathroom off this bedroom:

So I already did an artsy room, and as much as I had a blast doing it, I didn't really want to make another one (I guess I should have looked at all the houses closely before making that one, but whatever). So that, combined with me wanting to open up the little 'hallway' leading to the back door, landed the easel outside of that bedroom, so I could essentially do what I wanted to with that bedroom.

Still, I couldn't resist some artsy deco.

There is also a sewing machine next to the back door. Because I couldn't figure out how to get it to fit in the bedroom without rebuilding the bathroom/closet, and I figured if the easel could go next to the back door, so too could the sewing machine. Meet Josephine (not Joanne).

This family consists of a husband and wife, his mother, and their two boys. This bedroom belongs to the boys.

Now Shaun has an uncanny obsession with pigs. How many pigs can you spot in this room? ;)

Yeah, I had way too much fun with that room. ;)

Bathroom (the original one).

One of those counters was untouchable - can't remember which, but I think it was the one on the left. Why is this counter identical to the one I used in the Smith house?

Yay for bathroom clutter!

Master Bedroom:

The untouchable item was the wardrobe. As her son likes pigs, this woman likes shoes. Virtual cookies for whoever can count how many pairs of shoes there are in this house. (not counting the ones on sims' feet, of course.)

And last, the backyard. To show off my epic landscaping skillz.

The untouchable dragon table. Damn, I hate that dragon table, it's worse than the couch.

Anywhoo, that's my take on the Una house - which hardly resembles the original, but I had fun with it anyways! :) I'll probably end up doing the Cordial house, too, because I am really having a lot of fun with this challenge. ;)
