Tonight, when I go to sleep, it will be on the sleeper sofa of my parents' motorhome. That motorhome will be camped out in Fort Wilderness Campground at Walt Disney World. We'll be there until Halloween afternoon. Some highlights of our planned trip:
- Dinner at Cinderella Castle tomorrow night (which Mom and Dad don't know we're doing).
- A late night "haunted" carriage ride around the Fort. We have to be on the look out for the Headless Horseman.
- The Epcot International Food and Wine Festival will still be going on. We plan to eat our way around the World Showcase.
- We're hitting the VIP lounges of both Test Track and Spaceship Earth on Friday, too. Sometimes it pays to work for (or be retired from) a gigantic corporation.
- Golf on Sunday and Thursday at the Magnolia course and the Lake Buena Vista course. Two weeks later, I plan to watch the pros on the Magnolia on TV.
- Afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian resort.
- On either Wednesday or Thursday, we're going to the resident Cirque Du Soleil show, La Nouba. My parents don't know about that either. That is a surprise early Christmas present from my sister and her partner.
In between all that, we're going to do fun stuff, eat good food, and make lots of happy memories. Right now, the thing I'm most excited about is seeing my parents. I haven't seen my Mom since Labor Day. (I golfed with my Dad at the end of September.) I've barely had a chance to talk to them since they began their trip 2.5 weeks ago. They only have 200 minutes on their cell phone and neglected to tell me about the unlimited nights and weekends part until this past weekend. I feel like I've been saving up stuff to talk to them about.
I will have internet from the 26th to the 31st, so I may be popping in for trip reports or something. But I'm shutting down my work computer for the rest of the month as soon as I finish this post, and I may very well be completely absent for the duration. Not that I've been around much. Work's been super busy for weeks now and I've been missing from LJ for ages. Let's just say that I earned this vacation!
