Uh, yeah. So I've been reading Buffy & Angel stories.

So, I've had the weekend off and for some reason have been going through my bookmarks (over a thousand of them now! eek!) and revisiting the Buffy and Angel fandoms, which I fell out of years ago. For the most part, the stuff I'd bookmarked hasn't aged well. I guess I was massively into the overwrought angst, more than anyone needed to be. Then again? It's Buffy. QED.

BUT THERE ARE SOME GOOD STORIES LET ME SHOW YOU THEM

The Story: No Cold and Heat, by idyll
The Pairing: Xander/Oz
The Summary: "Tozan tells him that when he is cold, to be thoroughly cold; when he's hot, to be hot through and through."
The Squee:
Okay, seriously? I read this yesterday, and then went back and read it again today. I loved it. The pacing is perfect and the series of reveals is great. The writer took a very common trope and didn't make me hurl, and I love that. Oh, and honestly? I never really considered the two of them as a plausible pairing, much less actively shipped them, and now I'm just bummed 'cause there's not like a thousand stories about them. Ah well.

The Story: Rainmakers, by inkandchocolate (also listed as Lar on the Legal-ease website, where I originally found the story.
The Pairing: Lindsey/Riley
The Summary: "Lindsey said he was headed for his roots - or something like that. So what did that mean?"
The Squee: It's weird, but from what I can tell, every single Lindsey story (and, come to think of it, Oz's stories, too) I've found tends to end the same way: bittersweet riding off into the sunset or parting of ways. Maybe that's why I dug this one. It's just a nice domestic story, minimal on the angst, fairly redemptive while not getting bogged down. Mostly it's about hot guys making out. And that's what makes the world go 'round.

The Story: UST, by Pet
The Pairing: Angel/Lindsey
The Summary: "This fic is based entirely on the funny/flirty vibe these two had in 'Dead End', and almost completely ignores the angst and misery of all the previous episodes. So don't shoot me."
The Squee: Okay, that bit above where I was talking about riding off into the sunset? yeah, that happens here, but only after lots of smut and snark. Crackish, but fun. (especially considering how un-fun most stories with these two are).

Anyhow, since I'm apparently in the mood for these fandoms again, if you've got any Buffy or Angel recs- het, slash, gen, whatever, whoever, hit me with 'em.  I'm feeling nostalgic this week.
