1. Beck's new album, Modern Guilt, keeps reminding me of the band Ribbons. Like if you had taken their album and Beck's sea change and tossed them in a blender for a few seconds. It also sort of reminds me of some of the stuff I was hearing in China; but then, so does Ribbons.
2. It can be very frustrating to sit on one's hands in order to not pick a fight. So I will say it here instead. Saying "Buddha is not a deity" as a general statement of universal truth is a pretty problematic oversimplification. It's totally fine to say when discussing one's own faith, belief, understanding -- particularly if taking a historical perspective. But to say it as if it's some simple fact that everyone should just agree with because it's so obvious? Not so much. Absolutely, sometimes he's not a deity. But you know, sometimes he effectively is. It's a completely valid, accepted, and functional usage/conceptualization.
3. I have definitely become more descriptive and less prescriptive with age. I wonder if this is going to negatively impact my work in future editing positions.
4. I am really kind of horrendously terrible at keeping up with people. But at least I remembered to call
jadia back and we talked for nearly two hours. :D
5. I love %100 juice Capri-Suns.
6. Despite my current flailing, I really am incredibly lucky. Alternating between weirdly content and crankily homicidal, but. So, so lucky.
