in no particular order!
1. hanging out with
damselfrog and enabling each other to buy nifty things (at the Midtown Global Market, Kitchen Window (mostly because Penzey's was closed already), Dreamhaven (after finally finding the new location), and Surdyk's). and being gifted with her annual truffles, yay!
2. hanging out with
draconline and my two younger brothers (playing Wii Sports and Clue Master Detective -- yay, nostalgia). and seeing my parents.
3. coming home to find dark purple armwarmer/half-gloves and a scarf from
thirdthoughts (so pretty and warm and perfect, thank you so much!)
4. Manny's Torta's eggs and mexican sausage sandwich
5. Salty Tart's gingerbread triffle with chocolate mousse
6. wherever it was that
damselfrog got the vietnamese iced coffee
7. wherever it was that I got the enormous, delicious horchata
8. the cool saleswomen selling Rituals soaps and essential oils
9. cheap, pretty, dangly, silver-and-stone earrings (and the gorgeous purple necklace
damselfrog bought)
10. an issue of Terry Moore's run of Runaways I don't have yet! and a new Robin McKinley book to perhaps read on the plane.
11. finding Chuao Chocolatier bars in MN! (yum) and buying some new artisan chocolates to try.
12. getting to see
g_minus_2 tomorrow
13. and, of course, the promise of much more of this sort of thing to come.
ETA: 14. Finding a box full of old Nancy Drews and Bobbsey Twins books in my room! Including the Bobbsey Twins one where they went to Japan (for the longest time most of my info about Japan, just like most of my info about Jewishness for a long time was from the All-of-a-kind Family books)! And several of my favorite Nancy Drews (The Scarlet Slipper Mystery, The Clue in the Crossword Cipher, The Mysterious Mannequin, and The Secret of the Forgotten City). Now I just have to find the one that features the Faberge egg and Nancy modeling, and I think I'll have my top 5. Yay! I was afraid they had disappeared forever. How much do I love that even though my mom doesn't really approve of my pack rat tendencies, she still understands and indulges them enough to not throw any of my stuff away? So, so, so much.
