After years of giving superior customer service to other communication companies, why have BT now outsourced their call centres and begun being vastly worse than all their competitors. And more importantly why am I still being forced to deal with them even though I don't have a BT phone!? Yes, yesterday I received another bill from them, for that ( Read more... )

I noticed your subtle post that suggested you are also struggling with them at present.

Try phoning BT first thing Sunday morning - you actually get to speak to someone who speaks English then!

I got so pissed off the the BT guy when I was trying to get BT set up at my address that I told him where to shove it and hung up!

One of our conversations went like:
BT - You have to pay £145 to get line re-connected to house
ME - I can see that there is a line connected to my house
BT - You are wrong. There is no line.
ME - I am looking at the line connected to me house.
BT - No you are wrong. YOu have to pay re-connection fee.
ME - Why when I can see the line attached? I'm looking at it now.
BT - No. There is no line attached.

This went on for ages.....

I had several other arguments like this with him. I was on the phone for 45 mins and everytime I said something, he would put me on hold which became really annoying!

Well, I hope you don't suddenly get a connection bill, without ever having been connected like I have! I may well try them on a Sunday morning if I have no success beforehand, thanks! I'm planning on trying them tomorrow when Matt's round so that we can take it in turns to keep an ear on the phone whilst on hold, that way it's a bit less debilitating!

So you dont have a BT phone and dont actually owe them anything?

Sorry to state the obvious perhaps, but I'd just send them a letter stating when you moved in and that the bill isnt yours. Send them your landlord's address and tell them that he can can varify your move-in date!

Good luck!

Not quite as easy as that, they have my details because I enquired about getting a phone connected, so it's my personal details they have not just the address. I've been trying to sort this out since July!
