5809: Resource Crisis
Hey, it's been a while, huh. Sorry for falling off the face of the planet, but a few major things since y'all last saw me:
1. Received XCOM 2 as a pre-order present from my brother, so come 5 Feb that was my entire life for a while... kinda embarrassing, but the customisation is, like, SUPER GOOD for a select number of presets. I ended up creating a couple of my characters pretty damn accurately in the game, and it was like high school crushes all over again.
2. Sadly, XCOM 2 is SO resource-heavy that it would take nearly an hour, sometimes two, to play a "short" mission. This made me a little desperate for a much-needed computer upgrade that should've been only a few tweaks on my existing machine... instead, I changed out the motherboard and ended up... basically nuking my entire computer. I mean, it wasn't *quite* that level of destruction, but I managed to *literally* fry (and I do mean a bit of smoke, not the idiotic "not literally" definition of literally) the old motherboard, even if I had a change of heart. So while I did end up scraping everything back together to get something that works, the new motherboard = new computer, so ALL MY PURCHASED PROGRAMS no longer worked. Like, Photoshop, Manga Studio, etc., ALL OF THOSE flipping ALL THE MIDDLE FINGERS at my registry as though, "NUH UH YOU DIDN'T BUY US" >_<
2a. Anyway, I lost all my saved passwords in the process, so by that point I just saw no reason to bother trying to retrieve my LJ.
3. Also we bought a house

...title's from Deathmøle, which is a CRAZY AWESOME fake metal band. I need to pull a Jeph Jacques so I can get all my damn projects finished, but affording a house is too nice at the moment. (Not that I don't have savings enough to start on that track, as irresponsible as that is, but it'd be a super bummer to have to foreclose if I can't get over my "performance anxiety" for this stuff)
