Woke up from an extended nap and remembered 1. this "vise precedential D bait" thing was on and 2. that this is the Internets Age! and I could totally watch a Livestream.
Oh man, "male Sarah Palin" was a joke, but it's painfully accurate =/ To be fair, tho, Ryan sounds like he can actually put words together to form sentences, so long as you ignore the content... vs. whatever the hell that was back in 2008.
[wondering if I'll end up repeating 2008, too--missed all but one Pres. debate, caught the Veep debate]

Carrots! Falco came up with an idea that I thought of but didn't want to suggest because I still don't know some of the details of how it'd work [math!]: Basically, they would cut out my temp agency and contract me directly [ABOUT TIME], like many of the other contractors already do, and I'd get the share they're currently giving the agency without them necessarily having to spend any more on me than they already are.
PROS: Derp! Also, fuck doing TWO timesheets every week.
CONS: ...all kinds of things I don't know about =( I mean, yes, I was a freelancer for a while and know how to do the 1099s and that [plus, DJB didn't withhold taxes, so I'll most definitely owe come April depending on when I convert], but it has me worried because the other independent contractors need insurance for...? Yes, Falco assured me that they could waive that for me, but... why would I need it in the first place? What problems could come up if I don't have it? [Also waived: Worker's Comp. Hmm...]
Still, what I'm currently getting isn't gonna cut it by far, even after my car payments are done and that removes a huge expense from my monthly bills. I don't mind owing when the tax man comes due as long as I can anticipate it, but I wonder if I'll have to hire a tax prep person next time around if this going indy thing comes through. Maybe I'll ask some of the other contractors what they're doing.
Also, reeeeeally not sure about this copier thing they have me doing. At this stage in the game, the freight company might not cover the damage, making all the runaround I did for nothing =( Still, gotta try! I like having a job, after all -_-
On a different note, they had a farewell luncheon at The Greene Turtle today, which Dan is vehemently against because they are SLOW and have bad food. I didn't want to just object on Dan's behalf, so I sucked it up in the name of being good company [particularly since half the company already swears by them] and decided to judge for myself.
We got seated immediately, on account of it being lunch and calling ahead and that, but AFTER that was an inordinately long wait just for drinks, brought out one and two at a time for our party of THIRTY =/ [what happened to those drink trays?] Food was... okay, actually. My pork chop wasn't overdone as per normal [they should be cooked more medium like steak!], and I really only would've complained about it being overseasoned. Falco and Miss Priss complained about their food, though, so perhaps I got the one edible thing on the menu?
On the whole, B. An hour and a half is about what I'd expect for a business luncheon, but that's apparently too long for my boss, anyway. I did appreciate the decent Wi-Fi, which streamed the
Yo, is this racist? podcast pretty well. Not sure why everyone else likes it so much, though, other than Happy Hour.
Also, Miss Priss keeps reminding me of my mother, except Republican [she complained about Obama not keeping his promises, ignoring the Republican filibustering and that shit, but I wasn't really interested in getting into that other than them letting me know the debates were on tonight]. AWMIGAWB she hunts-and-pecks to a fault, how is this gonna work with her doing data entry D= D= D= *cries*
