4292: Enraptured Serene Mesmerism
oh hey I meant to post that I should not have to look for a job until after the new year ^_^ which means I can officially plan to attend MAGFest and not worry if I'll even be employed then to take off!

So, they extended my contract, and I've been assured by Falco that there's plenty of work [pressure from the peeps moving in to clear out the files taking up space [though what she's having me do now isn't really doing anything to help that [whoops]]] and doubly guaranteed the extension is good by my agent, so I can relax a bit now that the impending sense of getting kicked out is off my shoulders *^_^*
At the same time, Ruok mentioned something about [her] being on a 30-day probation, which... well, without disclosing anything sensitive, I basically have to wonder, "What did she do" =/ I can't guess at what would make her be on probation, since most days I don't see either Ruok or Falco much if at ALL [yay isolated cube placement]. I can't even figure out if there's a Pointy-Haired Boss thing going on, since I'd have to see/have seen something happen between Ruok and Falco/anyone else, and that generally doesn't happen, either. About the most I know is what comes up in the files I scan [kinda hard to avoid reading confidential material if I can't glance at it and instantly know what it is to label it appropriately] and what I see/what others tell me. Otherwise, especially since everyone [other than Scrooge] puts on a happy face at work, I'm pretty much assuming everyone's playing nicely with everyone else.
I know this isn't the case, because [redacted-1] talked to me at great length about [redacted-2] pissing off the visitors who were there specifically for [2], yet he blew them off without so much as a word of his whereabouts [no one could even find him]. It was the first time I saw [1] mad, though I had indirect evidence of [1]'s capacity for intolerance of abuses* from... other sources. It's weird saying I feel better that I have "permission" not to like [2] now, because I'm just prone to patience and forgiveness [we all screw up], and it seemed unfair to not like someone just for making a mistake. Thing is, overall, it's a pleasant atmosphere, and it SEEMS like everything is going smoothly.**
*"Abuse" here means the general, taken-for-granted abuses, like how people who consistently show up later than they promise to arrive abuse the patience of the people they keep waiting. I don't think any actual violence has occurred [yet].
**I found an interesting note, which may be against my NDA but I'm speaking so generally that it shouldn't matter: A salesperson went into a meeting expecting to talk about getting a raise for doing the work of three people--instead, that person was told about repeat failures to meet expectations such that that person was being told to do X, Y, and Z to step up the game. Rather than do that [apparently it was too much], that person resigned in pursuit of greener pastures. I guess it doesn't matter if you do the work of three people, if those three people aren't doing the job YOU were hired to do.
Anyway, yes, more free Friday bagels and doughnuts for me and C ^_^ ...it's funny that I appear to gorge myself on Fridays, but since I take home half of what I take for C, I actually end up eating LESS somehow. Fridays, inexplicably, I tend to leave work hungry =p although there was a surprise [to me] luncheon today--I covered for Ruok while she took the mandatory training session [I did last week], and ~11:20 this guy comes in with food! o_O Coulda warned me, maybe! =/
