4104.1: Try Again
oh yah it be a Friday innit =B Let's see if I can think of facts that aren't just rehashed in a book somewhere...Five Fictional Facts Friday: Versa
Versa would be my author avatar except for Nissan NA. 9_9 Biography aside, she has a lot of traits I would have myself if I were a better person. [Alas, I am but a weak human...]
Versa used to share her [code]name with Sue. Then I got over my thing about EVERY character having "secret" real names [and, also, I got aggravated keeping all the secret Aside/Tiliti names consistent]. If you haven't read the reason for Versa keeping her real name secret as well as retaining her codename where Sue dumped it, feel free.
Versa is a vegetarian. This is covered in the book, but when I found out that porcupines naturally cannot get enough salt, the idea of "Porcupine Chunky Monkey" just being a big bag of regular potato chips became funny to me. [still have yet to draw it, but I will]
Versa's story entails three "sets" of extraordinary people. This is not spelled out explicitly in the book, but there are three boy-girl pairs that have found each other, with Versa as the link between all six. Also not spelled out is that all six have the same eidetic memory [there is at least one in each of my major stories], though it varies to what degree the emotional stability of each [not much] is affected by their memories.
I don't actually know what her eyes look like. Or Vice's, for that matter--it felt like a running joke with respect to the fact they never take off their glasses, but it's also the truth.
Ugh, five is hard sometimes =(
In other news, I found another pair of white leggings at Sears, though +bling. Luckily the bling comes off with Goo Gone with almost no trouble... unluckily, Goo Gone prevents an even dye job =( and there are obvious splotches where the bling used to be [alternately: hand-washing doesn't remove nearly enough Goo Gone for a proper dye job]
I *guess* the first pair will work in a pinch, but even nylon took to dye a little more readily than I anticipated, and Pair #2 is still slightly darker than what I wanted, but I'll put up with it at this point. Both have their own good qualities and their own problems, but I'm not eager to spend that much more tweaking the least important part of the costume.
Also, I got an e-mail that the fetish gloves I ordered were out of stock/no longer available in the target colour =/ I say fetish because they're latex, which I figured I might as well order because they were about the same price as regular [cotton?] opera gloves AND wouldn't have seams. But, not to be... EDIT: Aagh, what prices was I looking at?!? Cotton is way cheaper! [or am I being trolled?]
So, let's see:

- vinyl @ ~$6
- ragged shirt-jacket @ ~$7
- leotard @ ~$38 [including ridiculous why-is-it-taking-five-days-by-FedEx ship]
- white leggings x2 @ ~$7/each
- green dye @ ~$3
- salt @ ?
- hot water @ ?
- coat hangers @ ?
So about $82 on this thing so far, with an unknown amount of fabric still to buy =| Hope it's worth all this trouble!

I imagine a few of y'all could piece this together from what I've said/shown so far, but I'll let that be a riddle-in-progress. I'd love to cosplay Versa, as simple as that would be, but I have NO idea how to do the quills correctly. [Basically like really thick hair, but I don't know how to do that well.]
